So this article concerns me, what next?? Since I'm not a talented food label reader, will this be clearly indicated or are there other key words I should watch for?? TIA

Relax. This is about one brand of peanut butter spreads, Nuts 'N More, which is a specialty line designed to appeal to bodybuilders and sold only in health food stores, mainly GNC and Whole Foods. And while the fact that it contains Xylitol is not at all clearly marked on the label, at $10 per little jar (each jar contains only 28 TBS), I doubt this is something that any of us would be giving to our dogs...or our kids, either, for that matter.

There have always been sugar-free versions of common foods like peanut butter on the market, mainly for diabetics, and they all contain some form of artificial sweetener, including Xylitol. They used to be a separate section of the grocery store, I'm not sure if they still are. But I don't think they're mixed in with the Jif, lol.

I agree with Karen. Plus this brand is like $9.99 a jar! Ouch.
However, it's good to be aware because if one product does it chances are others mighty follow suit.

Here are a few other PBs that contain Xylitol (probably all from health food stores) :

    Go Nuts, Co.

  • Hank's Protein Plus Peanut Butter
  • Krush Nutrition
  • Nuts 'N More
  • P28
Thanks all for the info.
