In the comment section below, I posted about an anemone that F introduced me to and how it's become a favorite in the garden. Do you have any new discoveries or old favorites to share? We might just get some great ideas for our gardens for next Spring!
I'll share the anemone here again, it's a perennial and the variety is Lady Diana. I love that it is late blooming because while I have a lot of Spring color, I could use late Summer/Fall color. It has countless buds and is pretty much carefree. I have it in part sun and I had put a wire cage around it when I planted it last Fall to protect it from 8 little running paws. : ) By this Spring it outgrew the cage and held it's own! It's good in zones 5 - 9. Here's the photo:
I have one more perennial to share, a sedum variety called Angelina. I wanted something low to edge off a walkway. I had mulch there, but it would get knocked onto the walkway and wasn't ideal. I found this Angelina variety, it is a fun lime green and makes a big statement. It spread enough to fill in the area where I wanted it without being too aggressive to keep up. Occasionally I pull out a stray piece but it's easy enough to maintain. In winter, it's still there, doesn't die out. It forms a nice thick carpet, zone is 4 - 8. It's in the foreground of the photo:So what do you have that you love that we can learn to love too?!

I've been looking for another anemone and haven't seen any around!
I just checked out the Maria one, very nice! I will keep looking, but you might be right about having to wait til spring now. I can always split mine next time we're together!
Love the anemone and your garden is beautiful. I may try the sedum for the same reason you have it. Love Jilly on the sedum.
Thanks and good luck with the sedum!
Janie ~ you have done a beautiful job with your landscaping. I love this discussion. I had a problem just choosing three favorites because I love every plant in my flower garden. But here are three of my favorites:
1) Legends Hybrid Tea Rose - Weeks rose, huge blooms & flowers 5 - 8" in diameter, fragrance - moderate fruity, 30 petal count but is huge. It is relatively easy to care for and I find it disease and pest resistant.
2) This is a Weeks rose also - Marilyn Monroe. My plant is now 7 years old and it is as glorious as ever. It bloomed the first week of May this year and is still producing blooms today! Fragrance is like fresh peaches and citrus; petal count is 30-35 and the flowers are creamy apricot. Another rose that is disease and pest resistant.
I love both of these roses so much I have two of each!
3) The Twizzle pansies - I think they are so cute with their little ruffles.
When Beau was a puppy he loved to run down the path through my flower garden. He is three now and nothing has changed.
Marilyn Monroe is lovely. Next year I will actually fertilize my roses and maybe they will be more abundant and happy.
Oh no F - you have to feed them! LOL
I do know. I think I have carried my no work gardening to an extreme and it's time to give in a bit : )
