I just dropped Roomba off at a kennel and I am so sad nervous! I'm pretty sure the guy was so annoyed at me and pretty much told me to leave before I made the puppy anxious too - but UGH! :-( We will be gone until Tuesday evening. Usually we would take him with us but I'm standing in a wedding and our group lodging doesn't allow pets.
I know I'm probably being unreasonable. The place was clean, he'll get let out 4x a day and get to play with other dogs (while supervised) . I live in a rural area with not many options. The only problem I have is with the guy. He is nearly impossible to get ahold of. I called 2x emailed 2x and did an online booking request before I even heard anything. He also said he'd text me a picture but I haven't gotten one yet. (It's only been 1.5 hours but I'm going nuts because he was so hard to get ahold of to start with.

He's fine right? Anyone else struggle with "human" separation anxiety?

He is fine and you will be fine....It is never easy to leave a child or a pet for the first time with a stranger but 90% of people are good we jjust always fear we may be leaving them with the 10% :) lol.....Enjoy your time away from him and you will appreciate him more when you come back :)

I would imagine the guy running the place is busy caring for the dogs. Just try to relax and think about how much fun that Roomba is having playing with other dogs and how well he will sleep at the end of the day.  It will be a happy reunion when you pick him up. In the meantime enjoy the wedding!!  :>)

Take a deep breath and relax. Roomba is probably have a great time.
Hurley is turning 3 and I still get a bit amphrensive when leaving him for a length of time even though I know he is having fun.

I would look at it like every minute he's not communication with you is time he is spending with the dogs, and therefore your baby! I do know ALOT of people either in grooming or  doggie daycare/boarding that are really not people-people, hence why they work with animals and the only reason I like them is because my boys LOVE them. Some people are just better with animals and come alive around them. The girl that helps out with the boys grooming is not very friendly to me and very quiet with people but the boys are obsessed with her and she is so kind to them (I usually hide and watch through the glass window to make sure). Enjoy the wedding!

Thanks guys.. He never did text me. I'm just trying to relax. I'm sure he's probably just with the dogs

I know how you feel..I always feel bad when we leave our pup, but I know he looooves playing at his daycare place. I'm sure your pup will love playing too. At the same time, I almost always have to leave a message for our place and wait for a call back when they have a break time midday or at the end of the day. They're always running around with the dogs or doing feedings or cleaning, so just know they're probably busy with all the pups.

I will tell you that he was right about leaving quickly and without fanfare. Pups can develop separation anxiety if you make a big show of leaving and saying goodbye. The best bet is to give them a pet at the door and calmly leave without any further recognition. Same thing with entrances - we try to talk calmly and quietly and downplay our entrances into the house or daycare, so our pup doesn't spend half the day anticipating our return.

It gets easier each time, I swear!
