This article is about how the new TVs may improve your dog's ability to see the TV screen--and why some dogs can watch TV and others can't. My F1 sees anything with four legs on the screen and barks like crazy, while my multigens look around to see what the issue is!

Oh and by the way, make sure you scroll down to check out the picture of the Norwegian vet--what a hunk!!

Interesting article!  Occasionally a dog on TV will catch Beasley's eye and she'll pay attention for just a bit.  Eloise watches all kinds of things.  She gets interested in football and she's watched long portions of animated shows or movies (she likes Minions, ha!) - but she mainly likes to see dogs and does NOT like to see cats.  Dogs intrigue her and she seems happy.  Never barks and sometimes looks as if she'd like to play.  But she reacts to cats...I think I've posted about this before, but the girl really, really, really dislikes cats (and I'm not sure why, other than her high prey drive).  Sometimes she'll fly off the couch and charge over to the TV, barking like a fool, and it's for all manner of cats - normal pet cats, but also lions, tigers, leopards, etc.  It's bizarre how she recognizes them!  She can see an elephant or camel or bear - no reaction.  But a cheetah?  She has a crazy fit with her "prey" bark.  The jingle from the Meow Mix commercial used to wake her from a sound sleep and she'd be growling by the 5th note; thankfully, she got used to that and no longer reacts.  Right now there's a commercial for a sleep aid with fuzzy "word" creatures - "wake" is supposed to be the dog and "sleep" is the cat.  That animated "word" cat actually registers as a cat to her (so the animation is effective, I guess!).  I've said "thank you" enough that she's finally stopped barking at that one, too...but surely there will be a new cat commercial that flips her out soon enough, lol.

None of my dogs have ever noticed the tv.  On rare occasion a sound will make their ears perk up but they direct interest toward the speakers, not the actual tv.

Harpo loves T.V. - particularly animals running across the screen.  He also runs to the computer anytime there is an animal making a noise on the computer.

Our Molly is obsessed with TV. She also loves to see pictures and videos of dogs on our mobile devices too.

She must have incredible vision--I have never seen a dog watch TV like that--and I have known a lot of dogs! Amazing...

Finn will sometimes watch tv if there is animal.  His attention span is not very long though.  He seems to realize it's not a real animal.  BUT both he and the cat sat in front of the tv and watched the Puppy Bowl. The whole puppy bowl lol.  Guess there was lots of movement and yipping to interest him.

That is the puppy bowl that Mattie is watching in the picture I posted! It was her birthday, so we let her watch it for a while --usually the barking gets to us and we have to change the channel.

Oliver loves to watch tv with us, if we leave the house we leave the tv on because he loves to lay on our bed with his woofy, and watch the tv, lol...He doesn't seem to have a favorite, just likes to stare at it and move his head from side to side, and then fall asleep, just like his human daddy, lol
