I am so sorry. Please keep us updated.
There was no obvious obstruction that the vet saw on the X ray. She said the radiologist will also take a look to make sure. She did see an area of his intestines that she said is inflamed and has low motility. He's been diagnosed with severe gastroenteritis. Because he was vomiting and had diarrhea the entire time they had him for the x-ray she wants to keep him overnight for fluids. They are doing a fecal but we won't have that back until tomorrow. She also wants to give the metro and cerenia via IV.
Thank you everybody for keeping us in your thoughts! We are hoping he gets discharged tomorrow. If he's still the same she said our next step will be an ultrasound.
Sorry to hear this, but hopefully the IV meds will calm his gut long enough to help the vomiting and diarrhea. Its hard to leave them overnight, I'm sure, but he will probably sleep the whole time. Thanks for the update and please Let us know how his night was.
Hoping he's much better tomorrow.
Glad that there doesn't appear to be a blockage. Last year Ned got sick - diarrhea, vomiting, lack of appetite, lethargy. We never a definitive diagnosis but our vet treated the symptoms beginning with a shot for nausea, and he got well. I guess it was some sort of 'flu' but our other dogs didn't get it, so. . .
Hoping tomorrow is a better day for you and Bogey...Please keep us informed...
I'm glad there's no blockage...hopefully the meds will start working and he'll be feeling better soon.
I'm so sorry to read this, Jenn. I hope he's doing better tomorrow.
Get well soon, Bogey!
