Does anyone's older/adult doodles, (mine are 7 and 5), still have episodes of ZOOMIES?

I always assumed it was a puppy thing that they grew out of and just when I think Murphy has done just that, he'll jump up like lightning struck and start running around the yard, possessed! It only happens rarely, and only in the evening when he has a zoomie attack. Maybe 3 -4 times a year.

So do they ever really "grow out" of zoomies or is it once a zoomer, always a zoomer?

JD never got the zoomies, but my miniature poodle who preceded him did, and it continued well into her golden years. So I'd say once a zoomer always a zoomer, until they can't physically zoom any more.

I think the dog wars here are a variant of zombies. One dog initiates and they're off and running. They race around, meet briefly to "fight" and race around to meet again. Sometimes one waits for the other to race back. Luca was a world class zoomed as a pup.

That is exactly what my girls do..

You just described perfectly the scene at my house about an hour ago. Wally is usually the instigator, but Charlotte is a happy participant. Wally is nine, and has always had periods of what we lovingly refer to as "crazy dog," which almost always begin with him racing around the ottoman in our family room. In fact, if I say, "Wally, ottoman," he knows exactly what I mean and will begin to circle around it.

Thats funny that he knows "Wally, Ottoman".  Don't think I can actually instigate a zoomie with Murphy. They are so spontaneous.  But I've never tried either.  Hummmm.....train them to have a zoomie, now that's something to think about.

LOL Finn had them as a puppy every evening.  Now he's 5 and he never has them in the house but outside is a different story.  We'll be outside walking around or playing fetch and when I start walking back towards the house, he'll suddenly get an "attack!" He 's off to the races...runs like a crazy dog in big circles and sometimes he gets going so fast he misses the turn and slides down the hill.  It's like he thinks he'll never see the outdoors again so he's gonna get it all in 1-2 minutes! Forever a zoomer :)) You go Murphy!

Oh my gosh Cheryl......this is exactly Banjo!      Just when I start to walk back to the house!    I LOL'd at the visual of Finn sliding down the hill!

 Maybe they're related :)

Yogi was a zoomer, I don't remember Maci zooming. Neither of them do now. But Maci is a little crazy ;-). I feel like she will forever be a puppy. She has such a goofy energy and is very entertaining.

Once a Zoomer, always a Zoomer! I love that.  Mine did as puppies usually after dinner, but at 5 and 3, not too often.  I wish they did because I find it so comical!  Beau only gets them after a bath - so I try to do that on a nice day, so we can go from the shower to toweling and then right outside.  Otherwise he was to zoom on our bed and then run through the house messing up the guess rooms beds on his zoom trip!

Oh yes, the famous wet dog zoomies! How could I forget. Murphy does more of a run outdoors to roll and roll and roll and rub and rub around in the grass. Which is usually just freshly mowed! He comes back with a green overcoat and then we often have had to start all over again.

Ha!    It's so funny you posted this, I was just thinking the same thought today!     Banjo is going on 6 and still has "episodes".....not as often as in his hey day....but i LOVE it!
