Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
So I posted about 7 months ago for our black goldendoodle asking about his color. We bought him as a black and started seeing grey so thought "oh maybe he is a silver." Then we saw tan going on. Turns out he is a silver black brindle! Photos below of his color soon after we got him when I first posted, how he looked prior to his first shave, and his first shave.
Before his shave we noticed the silvering on the legs and his under coat but we had no idea how brilliant he would be once shaved. The photos don't do it a lick of justice, the stripes are MUCH darker than they are in the photo. He seriously looked like a tiger for weeks. The groomers said that it was a highly desired color in the grooming industry and we got really lucky. He has grown out a teeny bit since his shave and the stripes arent really noticeable anymore. Now he is just a cool slate grey/light grey/tan mix. We are super happy with how it turned out though!

Very pretty.
You could be surprised. If both of his parents carry a dilution gene, your pup could fade.
However, your pup from your profile pic does look old enough to have the fading start in his face, and it's not, so he will probably remain black.
It's so much fun to watch their coat changes but you really had some surprises! He is just gorgeous!
oh so cute! one of Loki's sisters ended up being a brown and black brindle pattern. Both of my boys started out solid black as puppies and are now all sorts of colors- so cool to watch their coats change over time!
