Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Today my GD puppy was at the groomer. While Penny was being worked on, a family came in with a Labradoodle. We were discussing our dogs' names, their weight and their ages. The groomer heard us talking and chimed in. She said Penny would end up full grown at 75-80 lbs. I wanted a big, floppy, "lover" dog. But 75-80 lbs.? (I know there are much bigger Doodles out there but we've never had a dog bigger than 50 lbs.) I'm on the thin/petite side myself and this dog could be about 2/3 of my weight? Gulp! I'm panicking here. I need to breathe into a brown paper bag. I keep thinking perhaps the groomer is wrong (but she sees a lot of dogs day in and day out). Penny is 5 1/2 mos. old and weighs just over 30 lbs. Penny's brother is just 1 lb. lighter than her. So what do you guys think? You can see her latest photos on my photo page. I know there's no way anyone can predict the size of a dog but would someone please tell me (even if it's a lie) that Penny will not weigh 80 lbs? Yikes! She'll need her own bedroom, her own twin bed, a queen sized pillow, a place at our table, her own separate sofa, clothes from the Big and Tall store, a school bus............. Sorry, I got carried away. :-)

I had a nice chuckle when I read this.  When I brought my Cody home a friend came over to see him and the first thing my friend said when she saw Cody's paws was "Do you know how Big he will be?  Well 85lb later and 7 years later, Cody is the sweetest doodle ever

First I want to apologize for my post. I wrote that late at night and no I wasn't drunk or on something. LOL! I was just tired and kinda "slap happy". When I look at what I wrote, I'm a tad embarrassed. Sorry, I was feeling silly. But, seriously, I am concerned about how big Penny could get. I'm hoping Penny will get around 60 lbs. If she gets bigger, that's actually OK as she's such a love bug. She is very sweet; probably like Cody.

Tucker is 6 months now, at 5 1/2 months he weighed 30 pounds. His breeder predicts he will be 50 pounds full grown. That is on the large size for his litter. The dad is a miniature poodle.

I think Penny will be about the same, but big or small, she is gorgeous!

Thanks!

Well, Penny's parents were Golden Retriever and STANDARD poodle. So she'll probably be bigger than Tucker whose one parent is a mini poodle. I do know the groomer was looking at how big Penny's paws are. So we'll see if she's right or not.

Lloyd is almost 10 months old and has been 39lbs for the last  month and a half. His dad was a golden and his mom a standard poodle. When we brought him home at 8 weeks we thought he was going to be a giant with his big floppy paws and I was prepared for a huge dog. Now I figure he'll get to about 50lbs? Funny how you never really know!
