I am looking for some good books to read. Any suggestions from your all-time favorites list, the books you could re-read because you just love them that much?
A few of mine are:
Little Women
Fortune's Rocks
My Heart Laid Bare
Pride and Prejudice
The Secret Life of Bees

Me too. It has always been a favorite of mine. I saw the movie years ago too.
I love The Horse Whisperer by Nicolas Evens, have read it numerous times, but absolutely hated the movie. I, too, have read every book by Dean Koontz and own them all as well. (Hi, my name is Marnie and I'm a book hoarder....HI MARNIE) My favorite of his is Dark Rivers of the Heart. I really enjoy dystopian literature and recently read the first two in the Divergent series by Veronica Roth - fabulous.
This is a difficult question as I have so very many books I love and reread them every few years. What genre do you prefer? (Classics, mystery, romance, dystopian, contemporary, suspense, horror...) This would help me narrow my favorites list down.
I guess I would say historical fiction. Loved the books by Diana Galbaldon. They are historical fiction with an element of time travel - exactly down my line.
I just reread The Horse Whisperer, always a favorite. My favorite Koontz book is also Whispers. A little different type of book, but also good.
The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough....best book I've ever read
Still Alice by Lisa Genova
a trilogy by Penny Vincenzi:
Into Temptation
Something Dangerous
No Angel
Beach Music by Pat Conroy
The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks. It's about a great love and a great dog.
The Glass Castle by Jeannette Wells
Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
honorable mention: The Wedding Gift by Marlen Suyapa Bodden (Amazing ending!)
I've read Watership Down several times. I turn to it during difficult times. I know there is a movie but I refuse to see it.
Looked at the other notice by you and saw the posts were three years old. This is a little better. I am definitely a reader and have several favorite authors and themes. If you like mystery, try Dean Koontz. I have read and re-read many of his books. I also really enjoy Kate Morton, Diana Galbaldon, and Deborah Harkness. I love time travel and historical fiction. These book are more along the feminine side, and I also enjoy books by Lee Child and David Balducci, but they tend to be a little violent and more of a masculine taste (at least I think so). I like to read everything by an author and kind of get stuck on an author when I like them. Read on!
The Thorn Birds
Still Alice
Beach Music and anything else by Pat Conroy
Gone With The Wind
Olive Kitteridge
There Are No Children Here (non fiction)
The Husband's Secret
I've mentioned a few of these in a previous post but have added a couple of more recently read.
my favorites are:
The Invention of Wings
Fort of Nine Towers
A man Called Ov
Just read Jo Nesbo, he is a good mystery writer, real page turner "The Snowman" and a series
now am reading a new Book by a first author "Orphan X" by Greg Hurwitz
There are so many more....have just responded for the first time...thank you for the ideas...Kate
