Searching for a Flat Coat Doodle?

Hi everyone! My husband and I are adopting a DOOD in hopefully the next few weeks.... and we're really hoping we can find a puppy with a "flat coat" retriever look. Just like all of yours! they are so cute, we just love that look. Is it rare to find?

Do you know if the breeders will know right away if a puppy will have that flat golden look?

We have been speaking to one out of state breeder in Ohio, they showed us the photos below of an adorable little guy who's available, but its so hard to tell what their coat will be -- and to trust someone out of state! Eek!

If anyone knows how to find a retriever looking doodle (light on the poodle! haha) Please let us know!

Don't want to miss out on this little guy below but out of state is tricky!

Picked up our Goldendoodle almost 3 weeks ago. We actually wanted the traditional Doodle look but when we went to our breeders we fell in love with our Daisy, she came right up to my 3 year old and wanted to play and was the only puppy who seemed to say "pick me!". We went in thinking we wanted a smaller, curly, apricot girl we saw in pictures but left with the biggest puppy in the litter who was cream colored and who looks like she is going to end up flat coat. But from what I've seen the final coat can be gamble, while she will never have curly curly coat she could end up having some waves or end up looking like a retriever but only time will tell. I do know our breeder had one more girl available who looked exactly like her but not sure if she ships but could always ask

Just thought I'd post a few more, they are nice enough to send me pics and videos of him everyday so we can see him. I'm almost ready to just fly out to Ohio to meet him in person! Lol!!

He doesn't look like he would be curly at all. Maybe wavy from the little turfs on his face. How old is he?

Pictures do make them look bigger. I would say if he's 10 weeks, he's a good canidate for the retriever look. Have they had other litters with grown pups by now? Sometimes you can get an idea by looking at older litters and comparing. I know if I were on the fence with this one, I couldn't say no! Haha!

not possible! haha. convincing my husband everyday! its just tough he wanted to be able to go meet a puppy in person, not ship them out. But this is a special case! of instant love! haha

She is so wonderful! I think your pups are going to have a very nice shaggy look. I thought all Doodles had a teddy bear look, but was wrong, I learned from DK site, there's three different types of hair, and different generations, etc. I learned so much information from online when I was wondering how my puppy will look in the future.

Believe me, I saw so many pictures of puppies and adults. My puppy looked a little fluffy at 8 weeks, and every other week she was getting more straight hair. Now everyone think she is a 100% retriever - even the trainer thought that. Many of us wanted shaggy, curly haired dogs and didn't get them but we all love our straight haired doodles.

My doodle is 9 1/2 month old, and she always sheds like a Golden.
