As some of you have noticed, Penny has extremely long eyelashes. We're closing in on nearly 1 1/2 inches long. When Penny got her first haircut, several weeks ago, we told the groomer to leave her eyelashes alone. But now I'm wondering if her lashes are too long. Can that harm her in some way or weigh down her eyelids? Or can it simply be bothersome for her? I've never had this situation with our other dogs so this is new to us. Has anyone's dog had long eyelashes that actually became problematic?

Thanks. I think another reason that Penny's eyelashes are so prominent (in addition to length) is that they are gold and really stand out on her cream face. (Penny is starting to get a lot of gold on her. She didn't used to have any gold on her face now there's a lot around her nose and mouth; and she's kinda got a "racing stripe" on her back too. I hope she stays cream but "two-tone" would be fine too).

I was crazy about not cutting Finn's long lashes, but they became annoying to him so now they get trimmed enough not to obscure his vision or cause problems.

I'm sure I'll have to trim Penny's eyelashes eventually. And I'm sure I'll be able to tell when they become bothersome to her. So far, she's not acting like the lashes are bugging her.
I agree. I know they will have to be trimmed eventually!
