I was wondering what flea and tick preventative doodle owners recommend using on their pups/dogs? Thank you!

I use the seresto collar.  I used it last year and seemed to have good luck with it.

Annabelle is on NexGard. It is chewable which works best for us. When she was a puppy she was squirmy and had long hair. I don't think she was getting her full dose of the topical because of it. So I changed to a chewable which she gobbled up. She has been on a chewable ever since. I have small grandkids that are with my dog all the time, so a collar was out of the question.

Does NexGard prevent heartworm, too?

No, she is on interceptor for heartworm. I do meds every 2 weeks so she not getting everything all at once. I do heartworm on the 1st, flea/tick on the 15th.

We use Revolution and have had great success with it. Here in Southern Ca., it never really gets cold enough to kill off fleas, so we must use prevention all year around. Revolution covers, fleas, ticks and Heartworm , along with a few other intestinal worms, that I don't remember the name of. It's also a topical , so no worries about upset stomach...a problem Enzo had with another flea treatment. Enzo swims in our pool all the time, so I just make sure she stays out 12 hrs after I administer it.

Annabelle had been put on Revolution when we first got her. She got a case of roundworm at 5 months. They put her on Sentinel to get rid of the worms. After that I was afraid to put her back on the Revolution. Like I said though, she probably wasn't getting her full dose between the long hair and her squirming. So it probably wasn't the Revolution itself.

Roxy takes sentinel every month for fleas, ticks and Bravecto every 3 months for heart worm and other prevention. We live in Hunterdon County NJ which is epidemic for Lyme disease so she gets the Lyme shot also. Wish they had it for people.

Maybe that's reversed as far as what the meds are for? Bravecto is a flea and tick preventative, sentinel is a heartworm/flea preventative.
I was confused in another post because my dogs will be switching to Bravecto for fleas and ticks and are on interceptor for heartworms.
That's what I was thinking. Sentinel definately for Heartworm.

Too many ticks in my neighborhood to fool around.  I use NexGard and appreciate that not only do I know she gets the full dose, but no burning on the skin as we have experienced with other products and no worries about anyone touching "the spot" for 24 hours.  I have not had any problems with ticks since she began taking it!

I guess you have to use what works best. We've never had any of the problems you speak of. Like I mentioned, the plus Gir us, no upset stomach. Enzo is a very light eater, and she'd barf up any flea / tick medication.
Yogi gobbles up Nexgard. Maci is a picky eater and won't eat those, so she gets the topical Frontline. I just cut her hair really short in a spot between her shoulder blades to apply it.
