I got my Echo last Friday! She is such a love bug. I've had a bad head cold both last and this week, so its been rather hard. But, I have so far managed to get her first puppy kindergarten class, her first vet visit (required by my breeder for the health guarantee; all of the previous in the first 24 hours), got her on health insurance, and her microchip registered.
I can see the issues we will have in the short term are potty training (probably me unable to read her signals), eating sticks and wood chip mulch, and being in a crate for 15 minutes even if see can see me.
I haven't gotten a lot done: I need to make a puppy sling and potty bells, which would be pretty straightforward pre-puppy and if I was well.
But I'm so glad I got her!
What stage in the wait are you? Puppies aren't even born yet. Due date is June 12th! Would go home early/mid August.
What type of doodle? F1B Goldendoodle (Standard)
Color or gender preferences? They are expected to be apricot/carmel. I asked for a male and am regretting that for the dumbest reason - I have been RACKING my brain for a name without any luck and then last weekend stumbled into a name for a female that I love.
Any names chosen? Top 6 for male (don't adore any of them): Leo, Dewey, Alpha, Elmo, Rory, and Rowan. Female - Foxy
Any favorite puppy items purchased? He'll get a quite a few hand me downs, but I have quite the wishlist going on Amazon right now. It's mostly training tools, but also a few chewy toys.
I just noticed that this was a discussion from 2015, but it applies to me right now. I am in the waiting period as my pup was born on May 18th. We will pick him/her up in July. We have had many types of doodles - labradoodle, goldendoodle, ALD, and Jackapoo, but will be getting a sheepadoodle this time. I have been working with the breeder for two years to get just the dog I want. I prefer a female, but my husband would like a male. If a female, I have selected the name Daisy, The puppies are all black with white and tan coloring right now. We just got a crib for the puppy as I prefer cribs and playpens in the house, but we have a carrier for the car. About names, we have had Groucho, Harpo, and Zeppo for names for our doodles. Daisy will be rather a change from our pattern, but I am ready for a change.
Yay! A place where I can talk to other people about how freakin' hard it is to wait for my puppy!!!
Stage of wait: We just met / put a deposit on our little gal. We'll get her July 4.
Type: She's an F1 Aussiedoodle
Color/Gender: She's all black and female. The sweetest, most precious thing I've ever seen. Very curious to see her color when she grows up though, as apparently Aussiedoodles tend to lighten so much she might even end up merle!
Names: Deciding between a few things right now, top of the list are Basil, Blue, Ruby, and Lucy.
Puppy items: Not yet! I can't wait to go shopping to pick out stuff, but I feel like its too soon and I'll get too impatient! I just picked up loom weaving and I want to make her a little dog bed though, so that's fun.
Ahh! I know lots of people have to wait much longer, and we weren't quite planning on getting a puppy this year anyway, but a month still feels like forever!!!
I am going to pick up my new puppy on July 18 in Washington. We were going to drive and make a little vacation of it, but my husband decided he did not want to be away from his father (101 yrs old) for that long, so I made plane, hotel, and car reservations and will fly up on the 18th. My new puppy is a sheepadoodle and I have been waiting for him/her for two years. We don't know yet if it is a boy or girl, but we have had rather a Marx brother's theme going and are down to Chico. I'm not very excited about that name and probably will settle on something else. I like Daisy if a girl but my husband does not like that name. Bijou Billy is another name I like if it is a boy. I use baby playpens instead of crates in the house and the playpen is ready (plus a crib, but I think I will give that away). We use a crate in the car and I have a Sherpa bag for the plane transport. Getting close.
