UPDATED photo and info below! 4/26

Im so sorry that I have not kept up with the updates. We have just been so overwhelmed with everything going on however, now we feel we can breathe a little bit. We REALLY do appreciate all the love and support we have received from everyone!!!

TUESDAY MORNING: Annie is doing much better! She is responding well to the new drug therapy and she has eaten some canned dog food! Dr Neihaus is very happy with her progress and we are excited as well. We are getting quite an education on IBD and have come to realize that while Annie is cancer free, she still has a very serious disease. We are just so thankful that she is responding to treatment!

SATURDAY MORNING: Annie's nurse tells me that she is doing well and has quickly become a favorite of everyone. She is actually eating some food on her own this ...morning! She is also drinking some water. She is still having some bloody diarrhea however the doctor saw her as well as her specimen and said that is all normal after her surgery.
I cannot even begin to tell you how happy it makes me that she is eating something! I watched her refuse food for so long, I thought maybe she had given up. I am so relieved!!!
I would like to hug each and every one of you and let you know how very grateful we are for ALL the support and love we have gotten from you all!!! It really does make a difference and help us to feel not so alone in all this!

FRIDAY AFTERNOON UPDATE: Annie will remain at the vets office through at least Monday.  she has not eaten anything as of yet (3:00PM) but has had bits of water.  she is under constant 24 hour care.  Her biopsy results will most likely not come back until Monday.  It will be a looong weekend for us.  Her nurse took some pics for us today to share with everyone... She is one pitiful looking girl right now!!

SURGERY WENT WELL! Annie had some areas of concern that will be biopsied. She was spayed while they had her there so she will not require an additional surgery for that. For now, she is resting comfortably and receiving around the clock care.

UPDATE: Annie is on her way into surgery this morning at 9 am. With no complications, the surgery should take about two hours.

Annie is the latest rescue for (Elizabeth, Bailey & Bruin) and I. Her story can be found on Facebook on the "Saving Doodles" page. We caught her in a trap on April 1st in the tiny town of Interlachen Fl. She had been living on the streets there for at least 5 months. We brought her home and had her groomed and a true gem was unearthed. We just didn't know how very sick this little sweetheart was. She was diagnosed almost immediately with heart worms and ehrlichia which is another tick borne disease. She had a nasty ear infection in both ears. And then the kicker....she refused to eat. She refused dog food and we thought she was just a picky girl that preferred the trash she had been eating. She refused chicken and beef and anything else we could come up with. Because her stools were becoming progressively worse and with the advice of our beloved Karen (and Jack Doodle), today we took her in for an ultrasound with the internal medicine specialists. She has a condition called intussusception. Basically her intestine is being engulfed within itself. Without the necessary surgery she will not survive. Her diagnosis was heartbreaking because we have been giving her so much medication and she really just needed more help than that. Tonight she is being cared for with around the clock attendants and will have surgery in the morning.

Her care is very expensive. The surgery alone is estimated between $2500-$3500. And then we still have to treat her for heart worms.

Annie is under the DRC umbrella but unfortunately they have had some major expenses recently so we have taken on the task of fundraising for Annie. If you'd like to donate to the you caring account, please do so and no amount is too small.

Or if you prefer, you can send a payment directly to my paypal account at: alykatsmom@bellsouth.net to save the fees that you caring will charge us.

Whatever you choose, we are very grateful. Annie is such a sweet, gently soul and we are already in love with her!

We are keeping good thoughts for Annie's full recovery and am happy we could make a donation towards the bills.

Thank you Lori! We are so Thankful for you and everyone who cares so much for our sweet little thrown away dog!

UPDATE POSTED ABOVE

Bless you, Lori and Elizabeth! Donation sent to Lori's account. Sending healing vibes to sweet Annie!!
Thank you Gail! Hug Bailey for me!

I wish she was home with you, but I am sure the vet's office will closely monitor her.  EAT, Annie, EAT!

They are actually there with her all night long so I know she is receiving excellent care. Of course we both just want to hug her and kiss her but we also want her to get the rest she needs. I just spoke with her evening nurse and he said she did a little chicken mixed with dog food.

Do we know the recovery time for this type of surgery?  How long before she will be able to eat? What will they do in the meantime for nourishment?

She did eat a few bites this evening. She is also on IV for nourishment, fluids and pain meds
Saturday morning update under the photos.

I'm so happy that she's starting to eat.  Now we just have to pray for good biopsy results.

HOORAY for Saturday's update!
