Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
My 2yo goldendoodle Penny has been having seizures since right before her first birthday. She's had about 5 grand mal seizures, although the closest together was 2 within about a month. The latest was last night.
Blood tests are fine and she's otherwise healthy. Vet doesn't recommend doing much more as even with very extensive tests, it could still be inconclusive as to the cause, i.e. simply file her under that big category of idiopathic epilepsy. Has anyone actually had good outcome from more testing beyond the typical bloodwork? Brain scans, etc?

I started this group a few years ago and have done a lot of research on seizures. It is unusual for blood work or any scans to show the cause of the seizures. I would have a complete blood panel done just to rule out any obvious problems. Even if an MRI or any other type of scan does show anything chances are there wouldn't be any change in treatment.
There are some (including myself) that believe that the cause is most probably an unseen head trauma. We know that our doodle, Mariner, fractured his skull as a puppy.
Thank you for this reply. Is this an accident you knew about or found out from an xray?? That is so sad to think that maybe our Penny hurt herself as a pup and we didn't know all this time...
We adopted Mariner knowing he had an accident and fractured his skull when he was about 7 weeks old.
