Roo does not like his gentle leader, but it works great. Mine came with a video that explained it very well.
Don't practice without the walk, the walk distracts Roo from making a fuss over the gentle leader, at least not much anymore. He knows it means "go walk"
I have a drawer full of training harnesses. I tried them all before I found this one. Been using it for 2-3 years and love it. You can use two leashes when training not to pull and then drop down and use like a regular harness once he is trained.
I used the Freedom No Pull when Asta was younger (he is 19 months now) and still use it when we go to the dog park. I started using the Kurgo harness when he got older and taller. The Kurgo is used mostly when we go out to stores, public events (parades, etc.). He has no problem with either because he knows it means going bye-bye.

I just got a week ago a Walk in Sync harness for my 4.5 month old puppy, so I think an evaluation by me would be rather premature. There have been some discussions about harness safety lately. I thought that the late Sophia Yin's assessment (a vet and animal behaviorist) helped me. https://drsophiayin.com/blog/entry/which-types-of-collars-and-harne... When you use the Walk in Sync harness and attach your leash to the front ring, the harness tends to pull to the side of the dog when they pull. The harness I got may be too large, but she may grow into it. (Echo is currently ~9 pounds, and her parents were about 20 pounds. I got a S/XS size.)
Annabelle was like that. She hated it and fought me at every turn. Even if I was successful at getting it on her, she wouldn't cooperate for the walk. She was being stubborn because she didn't want to wear it. I finally returned it. She now has a Ruffwear harness. Why she tolerates that one and not the gentle leader, I have no idea.
