My 11 week old puppy has started wetting when he's excited.   This was never a problem before the last week or so.  He is a pretty timid boy.  We are trying to socialize him.  With 5 kids, of whom four are teenagers, we have a lot of traffic in our house.  At first he wet only when new friends petted him.  Today, he did it when I greeted him.  He had been walked within the prior 30 minutes.   Please tell me that this is just a phase!!!

It is probably just a phase :)

They have very little bladder control still at that age. I would try to keep any exciting play to outside and I would keep greetings very calm. I would ignore him and not make a fuss upon arrival and once everyone is calm, then pet. It is super hard to do but pays off a great deal in the end as coming and going becomes a non event which cuts way down on separation anxiety.

It usually is a phase. Ask everyone to ignore him rather than greet him when they first come in.  Don't talk to him using the high-pitched voice so many of us do when talking to babies. If all else fails, greet guests on your porch until this phase is over.

I really think it is excitement pee...my Guinness did this as a puppy.  I agree with BG and Nancy....try to be sure that everyone ignores him when they arrive for at least a few minutes.  Guinness did outgrow this, but it went on for several months whenever someone came and I couldn't get there quickly enough to tell them to ignore him.
