What could this be??

Charlie threw up in his cage last night and I'm not sure what this red stuff is. He was eating a lot of watermelon last night but this stuff is squishy, almost a gel-like texture. He's acting normal, eating, drinking, etc. Should I be worried? It's the first time this has happened.

I'm no expert, but the stuff on the Qtip looks like barely digested watermelon. If it were me and he had no other episodes of vomiting and is acting and eating fine, I'd attribute it to overdoing it on the watermelon and not worry.

Thanks so much for the reply. I guess I was worried because of the texture of it but he's never thrown up watermelon before so I don't know what undigested watermelon looks like lol. He's acting completely normal so I think it's fine. Thank you!

We also had this issue with Toby, but it was in his stools, after having watermelon. Very scary.  We were monitoring him and prepared to take him in to vet if we thought it had been a health problem, but he was acting fine, eating, drinking, full of energy, and when it happened the second time we realized again it was after having watermelon, so we decided it had to be undigested watermelon passing through.

It's definitely scary when you've never experienced it before! Originally I thought it was blood when I first saw it and I panicked but I do think it's watermelon. I was super freaked out this morning but he's acting normal, eating and drinking so I think everything's fine. Thanks for your reply!!!

I agree, it looks like undigested watermelon. Maybe he just inhaled it and didn't do much chewing.
