I have Annabelle on the Six Fish. I put her on it because she used to scratch and sneeze a lot and I thought it might help with that, which it did. An added bonus is that she likes it better than the original formula that she was on before I switched. I think some people alternate formulas every other bag or so. I have never alternated.
Jack initially preferred Six Fish, but that was before they brought out Regional Red, lol. That one ended up being his favorite, but I rotated formulas between the Original Adult, the Red, and the Fish.
I would not blend the foods, there's no need, and it really defeats the purpose of feeding more than one formula. All of the Orijen formulas have the same macronutrient profile, and there is no need to transition. I even sometimes used to feed one formula for breakfast and a different formula for dinner, no problem.
I have fed Winnie primarily Six Fish because it has a better Omega 6:3 ratio than pretty much anything on the market and I wanted her to have all of the skin and coat benefits of that. Every couple of months I rotate in the Regional Red for a bag or 2 so that she can have some red meat.
Bob (our rehome doodle) has lived with us for just over 3 months now, and we've been feeding the Six Fish the whole time. He was on such crappy food previously that I really wanted to get his nutrition and omega 3 levels up right away. We are now rotating in the Regional Red beginning this week. So far, so good!
Rotating protein sources periodically may also help prevent food allergies.
My guys will eat any of the Orijen formulas. We usually feed them the Adult because it is cheaper.
I tend to rotate when it's time to buy a new bag. I figure that I'd get bored with the same flavor day after day, so maybe the pups do too! They tend to snarf down the first few servings of a new bag, so maybe they like the change, too.
Feeding six fish to my golden retriever and she is 19mths old. I alternate between six fish and tundra. I always put in some brocolli or green beans with it.
