Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi,

I'm Kevin and am the owner of Chip. He's an 11 year old Labradoodle and he still acts like a pup. I actually came on here to research experiences with doodles and babies as we have a 11-week old girl now. So far, Chip has been great with her but I'm wondering if that will change once she starts crawling around more?

Also, if you want to see Chip in action, check out the video at the link below. We did one of those videos where it looks like the dog has arms, if you've never tried it before, it's really entertaining to do.:)

I don't think you will have any problems at all.

My doodles are almost 12 and 10, and they have never had a single problem with my grand kids. They have been around them their whole lives,

I don't see a problem if there isn't one so far however it is never a good idea to assume they are OK. They do need to be supervised when together at all times. A wonderful loving dog can turn in an instant if he is threatened or the baby puts a hand in his food, or takes his favorite toy...etc. With proper supervision and working with the child to respect the dog as she grows, you may have a lifelong love affair between the two! It really is more about teaching the baby proper boundaries. The dog does not understand that she isn't also a puppy.

We bought a kiddie corral with extra panels for our granddaughter.  We used it first to let our dogs see, smell, hear her little squeaky baby noises.  We continued to use it for quite a long time to keep her toys from becoming doggy toys.  We used to get in the corral with her.  We have never had a problem with our dogs and our children or grandchildren, but we are realistic so didn't leave them alone together until the child was old enough to behave herself - i.e. bug the dog.
