Beckett is finally old enough to start being a proper running and hiking partner for my husband. Running is fine because they usually stick to the roads or sidewalks in our neighborhood or local greenways, but my husband is thinking Beck might need boots for hiking. Anyone have recommendations for reasonably priced boots that have worked well for their dog? (My husband found a pair on Amazon with 5 start ratings, but they were $70. Was hoping not to have to spend quite that much for something he'll only use occasionally.)

And just for fun, here's a picture of my HH and Beck headed to the greenway one Sat. a.m.

I've no personal experience using these, but the owner is a doodle owner and has given these away before in DK in a contest: http://www.pawshpads.com
Thank you!

Actually, you might want Beckett to wear them when running on concrete to protect his pads.  Hopefully others who run will chime in here.

My husband has been increasing distance gradually and always checks to be sure pavement isn't too hot (does hand on pavement for so many seconds check), so I think at least right now his pads are in good shape, no issues.
These are pretty simple and yet cheap enough to replace if your pup happens to lose one. I emailed the company and they were quick to respond. Plus, these are the booties the Iditarod dogs use!

You would probably want the 1000 denier as those are what we ordered for Gracie to hike in. As well, we ordered the fleece for use to get in and out of the car with no scratching. ;)

Those are cool, affordable and if you lose just one, it can be replaced. Must be pretty good if they are used for the Iditarod! Thanks!

We have used muttluks for years and have been very pleased. They have lasted and held up very well.

Thanks!

Beckett is a cutie !!  My Hanna runs (3x week) and hikes with me too.  I did buy her some Ruffwear (taller winter) boots that I really like and stay on pretty well with extra Velcro straps.  However, we only use those in the winter because so much snow gets stuck in her hairy feet.  I think I saw you were in AL, so guess not an issue for you guys ! : )  I have never put boots on Hanna for hiking in the summer, even though it is very dry and rocky here. Mainly because Im more worried about her not being able to cool off her feet enough.  She is 5.5 years old now, and her paws seem to be fine whenever I check them.  Not saying that will be the case for you, but since he/she? is already running and toughening up her pads, maybe she will be ok without them?? Hanna does tend to slip/slide more with her boots on and then I worry too about knee issues!  ps.  Noticed the hubby has a camelback--I use the same thing and Hanna loves to drink out of it too!!  Good luck with the running and hiking !!

Yes, we are in AL so snow is not much of an issue. Interesting that you think boots are more of a hindrance hiking- something to consider. Beckett is about 14 months old. My husband has been gradually increasing the distance they walk and this is the "magic age" when our breeder said he would be mature enough for actual running. Paws and pads are fine thus far, will keep an eye on them.
Thank you everyone for your suggestions! I shared them with my husband and he is very appreciative!
