Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

 Hello!

One of the breeders that I am looking at are having a litter of f1bs in the spring.(the only litter that I can see due in the spring) But I can't tell if they are going to have a multigen litter.(I have to contact them) We  want a multigen but, Now that I think about it, Bella might be an f1b multigen, only because her body looks so poodley. But, Bella has more of a goldendoodle\golden retriever personality. I want the personality to be similar.(I know they will not be the same)We might have to open up to f1bs, since multigens (even the f1b multigens) are hard(ish) to find. What are the personalities of your f1bs?

Thanks!

Bella's horrible haircut: poodle body, golden brain. Weird right? She even has the "golden paw." (use their paws for EVERYTHING!)

P.S. I really like multigens because they have an established breeding line, so their personality will be sort of predictable. Or you can get an idea:)

Don't judge the sweater... It was in the middle of the 2016 Blizzard!!

Bella is a cutie. Annabelle is 2 years old. An f1b mini. She is sweet and smart. She figures things out pretty quick. She loves to play, especially frisbee. She runs through the house with the frsibee in her mouth hoping she can interest one us in a game. Which most of the time we can't resist her cuteness. She can also be a lazy bones and she loves to nap. But since she is also a mini so she is part mini poodle. I have heard that the mini poodle has a worse temperament than a standard, I don't know how true that is. There were 2 rough months in there when she was a puppy. She had an attitude, she was rebellious, she wouldn't listen, she bit me all the time. Sometimes she was being aggressive when she did it.  But we got through it with a lot of blood(mine) sweat(hers) tears(mine) and money(mine) and now I wouldn't trade her for anything.

Thank You for the info on Annabelle! She is so cute! I think that the standards were retrievers at one point,(?) so It probably had something to do with there personality.Mini and toy poodles sometimes do have a "reputation"(when not trained right, or at all) being aggressive to people, and being yappy. Some small dog owners spoil them but never train:)

Bella Kind of went through that stage but she just didn't listen! She stole paper towels(she still does that) and never gave them back!

I think standard poodles and minis have the same personality. It is just what you let them get away with and how the world looks to them. Smaller dogs are more "yappy" because the world is huge and a bit scary! They can't intimate with their size so the bark. I don't let my goldendoodle jump on me because he is gonna be huge but my 5 lb pomeranian jumps on me and I sometimes don't even notice. It is easier to let him get away with things--which is my fault. Dogs are like people, they have to adapt to what they are given. The Napoleon complex is greatly misunderstood and just get a bad rep. Poor little dudes!

Sorry if I was sticking up for big dogs:)  I never had a little dog before. (I love little dogs too:) Thank you for letting me know!

No Worries. its all good hehe

F2b have more golden retriever in them. F2B Goldendoodle = F1 Goldendoodle X F1B Goldendoodle - 62.5% Poodle - 37.5% Golden Retriever. F3 is the same amount of retriever= F1B Goldendoodle X F1B Goldendoodle - 75% Poodle - 25% Golden Retriever. I think it is more about the parents in terms of personality traits. I don't know if that helps

Thank you! That does help a lot! I get so confused with all the generations:)
