I am very disappointed in my doodle! She just got chicken bones out of the garbage, we punished her, (put her in the bathroom) Then, when she got out, she went in the garbage again! I am very angry at this point, trying not to get mad at her, but she could die if she keeps doing this!! The only reason(s) I am getting mad is because I am not sure what to do, she keeps doing it, and she can hurt herself! She takes it right above her food bowl then eats it, so I think she is eating but she is not. I try to keep her with me, but she sneaks away without me knowing.

Can someone please help!!?!?!

Get a garbage can that is hard for her to get into. Maybe one with a pedal to open the lid. Or get a small trash can to put under the sink for things like bones. That is my immediate solution.

That is a great idea! I think I was going to get another garbage can anyway, but that is a great idea to put bad stuff under the sink:)

This happened to me a few years ago and I had to go to the ER at 2 am. We had wings dumped in a can that has a spinning lid. Our dog figured out how it worked and ate some chicken bones.  After induced vomiting and x-ray, we decided to put our 20% off stash of bed bath and beyond coupons to good use.  We got the Simple Human 50 L step can.  A little over priced but a lot cheaper than er visit.

I think I will have to do that:) I am just very disappointed that she does this at all! I don't think she can help it though. It's like she has an addiction to garbage?? Because I know she doesn't want to disappoint us, but she does it anyway!

The smell of chicken bones and other food items in the garbage is very very powerful; very few dogs would be able to resist that. It's not an addiction to garbage, it's a basic life force, lol. I agree that the best solution is a dog-proof garbage can.

Haha:) The only reason I say "garbage"is because she does that with paper towels, napkins, and anything paper, which I guess wouldn't all count as garbage:)

The simple human can I got has a lock on top. That was the reason I went with them. Here is the link for this exact can http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/simplehuman-reg-plast...

Put your tamper-proof trash can behind a closed door.  If you are talking inside - in a pantry or a cupboard. If you are talking outside, on the other side of the fence from Bella.
