Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hello everybody!

I posted a comment on one of my previous discussions, that I have picked my breeder! It is going to be Bella's breeder and they are in FL. It is going to be 15 hour drive, and I want to make sure that the puppy is as comfortable as possible. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should bring with me?

Thank you!

We only had a 5 hour trip, but I was thrilled that both times, each doodle sleep the entire distance.  Hopefully you will get a pleasant surprise and your new little puppy will sleep most of the time and will have no issues riding in the car.  I would take a think blanket that is washable because you are probably not going to want to hold puppy continually.  Beau preferred to sleep right next to my leg in back seat.  You are lucky your Dad is going with you.  Enjoy your trip and have a safe one.

Thank You! I hope she will be tired out before we get her:)

I brought newspaper to put on the ground for break times, lots of baby wipes in case of accidents, black plastic bags. A little softened food  that the puppy is used to eating (ask the breeder to give you some)  as 15 hours is too long to go without food. A crate or carrier that you can put puppy in and a way of strapping it into the seat for safety. Water and a bowl. Snacks and a change of clothes for you in case something spills on you!  I emptied a large bottle of water over me on my journey to collect Riley and had no change with me. Good luck

Thank you for the suggestions! I will definitely bring some extra clothes:)

You might want to consider Delta pets because it is easier for both you and the puppy. It would be under $300 so probably cheaper than driving down. If you get the dog during a warmer month and you trust your breeder to pick out a suitable dog this might work for you.

That would be so much easier! Not that I don't trust the breeder, because 100% I do, but we really want to see the puppy in person, so if we want to change our mind on the puppy we can. (But I would honestly be happy with any puppy;)

I wish I new:( But we are hoping in March-June, and that also depends when they are having the next litter. Puppy finding and preparing is so complicated! But its worth it:)

NutriCal is actually a really good recommendation.  It was recommended by my vet when I had to get a puppy from another state.

Added to the list!!

Thank You everyone for all your comments!! You guys are going to be the first to know how everything goes!
