Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I officially became the owner of a very handsome Goldendoodle named Tutuola on August 16, 2016. He was born June 21, 2015 in Xenia, Ohio, and both of his parents are Goldendoodles. His mom was from another litter bred by the same organization, 4 Paws for Ability, and dad was bought by 4 Paws from an outside breeder. Tutuola was one of 10 puppies that were born into the Law and Order: SVU litter. The owner at 4 Paws for Ability likes to name each litter after a theme, some of the themes happen to be TV shows or movies. We brought Tutu home on August 28, 2016.
Tutu is an Autism Assistance Service Dog for my daughter, and he is trained in search & rescue (tracking), tethering, and behavior disruptions. Most of all, I got him to be her best friend and constant companion. She is 10 years old and very sweet, funny, and loving. She just has some difficulties with things that are easy for the rest of us. Tutu has already proven his dedication to her and given her so much joy in the short time that we have had him!
I have owned many dogs in my life, but never have had a Doodle of any sort. I wasn't even sure I wanted a Doodle (please don't tell Tutu!) I had this horrible bias against them, without having even interacted with the breed. I am so ashamed to even admit that I thought that way! Now I can't imagine not having a Doodle, and I am even thinking of adding another in the future, as a pet for me!
I decided to join DK after several Google searches brought me to forum posts on this site. Having never owned a Doodle, or a Poodle even, I have been at a loss for his grooming care. And his personality traits tend to puzzle me at times, so I have been trying to figure out if it's him, Doodle, or service dog. Finally I decided to take the plunge and just join because I have become a bit Doodle obsessed!

He is a beautiful boy...welcome to DK.
Congratulations and welcome to DK!
Welcome! Tutu is a handsome guy! I am so glad he is assisting your daughter. What a wonderful team they must be. Grooming doodles is an art that many groomers don't seem to have, and matting coats is what most doodles have, so do join the grooming group. It isn't just for those who groom their own dogs. And join the nutrition group also so that you can choose among the best foods for Tutu.
They really are, even for being such a new team! I'm still figuring out the layout here, but I will definitely look for the grooming and nutrition groups. I have so many questions and not a lot of people I trust to ask questions. I'd love to have others that really know this breed to talk to!
Thank you for joining us. Tutu has a very important job, Enjoy our site!
I am so happy you joined. How wonderful that your daughter will have Tutu in her life to assist her. Our daughter did not have Autism, but had many medical problems and the bond she formed with our Lab (not a service dog) was such a blessing in her life. When she had a bad day at school or got teased, Hershey was there waiting for her when she got home and loved her unconditionally. It was actually my other daughter who begged for a dog, but Hershey belonged to the daughter who needed her most. Dogs just make life better. Good luck to all of you!
It's amazing how they just seem to know who needs them, isn't it? Tutu is home with me during the day, and he has helped me through some rough days. Jewell has some other medical issues too, so Tutu has his work cut out for him but seems to be taking it all in stride!
Congratulations to you and your new family member! Tutu is a real cutie!
