Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Ok so my Dixie is now 15 months old and her coat had been through several changes and she has had 3 clips!! So this week I noticed that In between her really soft fleece fur she was getting corser white hairs?? Is this normal for the winter coat or is she going to have another change?

Tara had only one coat change at around 1 year old. Nothing since. I think it depends on what generation of Labradoodle you have.  The earlier generations tend to shed more.  Tara did have some of those coarse white hairs grow in around that age though but nothing fell out!

They never really stop in my opinion! My apricot doodle has had red coarse hairs mixed in in the past and they are no longer there--my red doodle keeps getting straighter--and some of the doodles I groom get lighter in color as they age--so, it is a surprise package!

Here she is!!! And yes ginny I agree some get lighter and she looks different I every photo!!! She is a f1 gen labradoodle ??
Couldn't upload pics so I have changed my profile pic

She really has a beautiful coat.  Tara has changed colors over the years too but it never involves shedding out the old coat.

Does she shed? It may be that the doodles that do shed get a little bit of undercoat for the winter - just a guess though.  My doodles are ALDs and non-shedders.  After they went through the mature coat change at about 10 mos - a year, their coats have remained pretty much the same.  Charlie (almost 6 yrs) has faded from rich chocolate, but the coat itself is still the same texture as it was as a young adult.BTW - Dixie is a beautiful girl with a beautiful coat!

Hi there she does shed slightly yes as I fine balls of fire periodically around lol!! Yes I think u r right about the under coat as last year she got an unde coat of dark red hairs that r not there now! Xx
