I'm relieved to see that it's about the owner's stupidity and inability to accept responsibility for same rather than a problem with Orijen, lol.

Very funny.

LOL

This is a very humorous letter.  And, I will now be vigilant about noticing the pictures of the dog or cat (- no doubt running for the bathroom! LOL)  when I purchase.

Had tears in my eyes from laughing when I was done

.

When I get my dog, I will definitely look for that now.  I think that it might be helpful if Orijen changed the bag of one of them- at least change font or boldness of cat vs dog.   This can be a problem in human pharmacies, especially human hospital pharmacies, where you are sometimes manually sorting hundreds of 'look alikes' (where the results can be more disastrous.) I would imagine most companies would have special people who design their packaging, and preventing human error is one of their jobs.

I know I've looked at the cat food before thinking it was more dog food. So, yeah it's important to pay attention. Usually the stores have them in separate areas, so the other kitty food will alarm you due to the packaging.

There are definitely separate sections for cats and dogs in all pet supply stores. All you have to do is look around you, lol. Of course, these days, most people are looking down at their smart phones, which is probably how the author made his mistake.

Haha. Do you know who Mike Rowe is? He is basically a working man who made a reality show called Dirty Jobs. He now calls it something else on a different network. But, he advocates for people to look into occupations that don't require a a college degree or mountain of debt. He also has a blog and he got a dog, Freddie, and adds Freddie to some of his discussions. I doubt he was looking at his smart phone - I mean it's always a possibility. But, the marketing is very similar and I'm sure he's not the first person to make that mistake. This type of article is right up his alley. However, quite funny when you know who he is.

No, I've never heard of him. I hate reality TV, lol.

My comment about smart phones was meant to be a bit tongue-in-cheek, in keeping with the blog, which I know is meant to be humorous. But I do notice that the vast majority of people everywhere I go are looking at their phones rather than at what's around them. I also notice that many people these days don't seem to read anything, they just want to look at pictures.

All I can say is that I've been buying dog food since 1977 and never once even picked up any cat food by mistake, let alone put it in my cart. :)

That's true about smart phones! Ugh.
I have looked at cat food thinking I was looking at more dog food, but yeah never put it in my cart. He is a man. ;)
Now I will run away after that comment. Hehehe.

Well, in spite of reading this post, I, by mistake, as my first intended bag of adult dog food, bought a package of Acana Meadowlands flavor, and, after opening it, feeding several servings to Echo, then looking on the back of the bag for the serving size, found out it was  Meadowlands CAT food.  The only clue it is cat food on the front of the bag is there is a dusky shadow of a cat, about 1 inch high, on the extreme lower right corner of the bag. Luckily it is the small sized bag.

Echo much prefers her Orijen puppy food (over the Acana Meadowlands CAT food.)  So I bought her a package of Orijen adult dog food original flavor.  At least the package I got now says Orijen Original flavor DOG food on the front of the package, not hidden away in a corner.  (BTW, my bag of Acana meadowland CAT food does NOT contain particles/kibble bits, as my bag of Orijen puppy did.)

So the moral of the story is: sometimes we make mistakes, even after we are warned against it.
