I've been missing for awhile and haven't been much inspired to take out the camera - truth be told. Just my iPhone. But going through everyone's street scenes has been so fun. All of them are wonderful!!!!!

I agreee Cheryl!  So interesting!

Visited NYC this past week.  We made time to visit the 911 Memorial.  As an experience, it's quite an immersion, but also healing.  I had a chill from the moment I descended.  Funny because it wasn't cold.  Once in the "footprint," (the gallery) you're not allowed to take photos out of respect.

A piece of an original stairway from the WTC going down into the memorial.

I thought we'd spend an hour or two at the Memorial but we spent 4 hours. Emerged into the NYC evening. 911 Memorial Pool on  a rainy mid-winter's night.  Looking into Manhattan.

Wow, I haven't been but I feel a chill just looking at your mages.

If the chill comes through then maybe I succeeded. I shot a lot of objects that were outside the galleries but I'm not happy with the shots.  They were just objects. In some cases, I couldn't get back far enough to get the full impact. But that crumbled stairway made a deep impression on me. I hope you get a chance to go.  The entire complex there will be phenomenal once it is done.

It is an amazing and sobering memorial.  I also got chills when I visited.  Love images, Cheryl.

So it wasn't just me. Just being in the space was powerful. Thanks DJ.

I sat for several hour on a bench inside the memorial and soaked up the atmosphere, which included grief but also hope.  For me, it was a remarkable experience.

Very moving images Cheryl.

Thanks Anne.

Thanks for sharing these, Cheryl. I had no idea one wasn't supposed to shoot pics in the museum! When I went, I did, and so did most other people there. How embarrassing!

I would have had no idea either, PJ but I was told (in a very compassionate way) before going in that I couldn't photograph in the two core exhibits...the Historical Exhibit and the Remembrance Exhibit.  I believe there was a sign as well. Maybe it's a new rule. I only saw one guy with an iPhone taking pictures and then I saw one of the attendants talk to him. You could photograph anywhere in the rest of the museum space.
