Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi everyone, we are about to welcome an F1 mini English goldendoodle to our family. We will be bringing her home on March 11th. Although my husband and I both had dogs in the family growing up, this will be the first dog for our family, and definitely the first experience raising a puppy. We are all excited, especially my 10 year old daughter, who loves dogs and has wanted one forever.
We are still working on a name for our girl. My daughter has chosen a name that I find agreeable, but my husband does not like it! This is worse than choosing names for my kids....lol!
I have been lurking at this site for a while and just recently had my membership request approved. There is so much helpful information here, and I have been reaping the benefits already, before even starting to participate in the forums. Many thanks to all who have answered the questions and posted useful information for us newbies.
Here is a photo of our girl at 5 weeks old, when we visited the breeder to choose our puppy. My daughter instantly knew that this was The One. She was the most chilled out of all the puppies we had to choose from.

Thank you! I guess it will be a lot like raising human babies, only it goes by even faster. My kids are now 10 and almost 7, and I wonder how they got to be so big so fast.
What a cutie! I felt it was fun thinking of names and just knew which ones immediately. Almost like it was with naming our children. I know this sounds crazy, but it's not like a puppy's name is legal and binding. It is possible to change it if you used it for awhile and decided that it just doesn't fit her.
I had thought about it once, ended up not thinking of anything better after all. Think of all the dogs that are found or rescued or rehomed and names are changed. Just a thought, that might take some of the pressure off you.
Such a cutie pie!
For what it's worth, she looks like a Clara to me.
Or, what about calling her, Bessie, which is an informal version of the English name, Elizabeth?
She is very cute! You can always wait till you've had her for awhile and her personality will chose one for you. It's not like she's going to be responding to anything at this point. Whatever it is you'll most likely it into a one syllable name just because it's easier!
I love and appreciate all the name suggestions. I think I need to get a few more puppies so I can make use of them all! We did tell our daughter she could choose a name for the puppy, as long as she doesn't pick anything too outrageous, and she is pretty set on the name Sunny. My husband doesn't like it much but has finally agreed to go along with it. So, it looks like her name will be Sunny, after all. I think it suits her; she seems to be a sweet-natured, happy-go-lucky pup. Or at least, she did the day we met her! (Of course, my daughter is naming her after a dragon from her favorite book series....lol!)
I really like the name Sunny!
I love the name Sunny. My mom had a Bichon/poodle named Sunny.
