Toby sometimes gets these small white pimply bumps which we have been told are normal, and they usually go away on their own. This one started out the same, but got bigger. This is on his right hip. Went to the vet a couple weeks ago and they did an aspiration, said they didn't get much fluid out but sent a sample to the lab and to onocology. Nothing...and no cancer cells detected. The bump got bigger. They said it looks like a "warty growth". Said to keep an eye on it. Took him in again yesterday as he was biting at it drawing blood. They said the option would be to treat it with meds and see if it goes away or put him under anesthesia and remove it. They are hesitant to put him under unless absolutely necessary as he has been having a lot of seizures lately and is on additional seizure meds right now. There is a hole in the middle and does not have any drainage. Yesterday they shaved the hair around it and cleaned it, and put an ointment on it. Looks a tad bit better today but still no difference in size. Is this a cyst? Has anybody here seen anything like this? I am really concerned, we have another appointment next week.
UPDATE: Toby is scheduled for "surgery" on January 31 to have the growth removed. It has grown quite a bit since this picture, has gotten much wider and deeper, so they are not comfortable doing this with just a "local" anesthesia. They are also sending the "growth" out for analysis. Please keep him in your prayers.

I am so sorry that Toby's growth has increased in size and must be removed surgically. Sending wishes for an uneventful surgery, negative biopsy and speedy recovery.
Hoping everything goes well, we'll be thinking of you both.
Thank you all for the well wishes. We were hoping it would go away on it's own, but it has more than doubled in size. It could just be a "warty growth" as the vet first diagnosed it, but I feel we need to find out. I am not sure yet how long for the results of the biopsy, but I will update when we know.
Toby had the growth removed yesterday. It was recommended to also clean his teeth while he was under. Everything went well. Growth removed, has a few stitches which they will take out in about 3 weeks. When picking Toby up yesterday, Dr, commented on how good Toby's teeth were, he said they were in "remarkable" condition considering his age. So we were quite happy to hear that, Dr commented "he sure has a lot of other problems but does have good, solid teeth!" Surgery site looks good. Dr. strongly feels this is not cancer, but just a warty growth. So we are pretty happy with the results so far. Keeping the cone on Toby is our biggest issue right now, he absolutely hates a cone, and has already started chewing the edges. It's going to be long 3 weeks. But we'll get through it.
Hoping the biopsy comes back clean. :)
Thanks, aspiration was done and showed no cancer cells, we should know in about a week from the biopsy but pretty confident just a growth, which Dr said he sees a lot of these growths. Still had us worried, but looks like all will be fine.
I will keep my fingers crossed, but it sounds like he's fine without my fingers! Congrats on Toby's great!
Thanks, Toby is doing very well with all of this, we take the cone off some doing the day when we are playing with him, and he doesn't bother the incision hardly at all, only once tried to lick the incision site and we put the cone right back on. If we are not paying direct attention to him he always has the cone on. So we are quite happy with everything. And getting such a good report on his teeth was just a bonus!
Sounds like Toby will be okay, and keeping fingers crossed that he gets a completely clean bill of health !! Thanks for sharing this with us so we can all learn!!! Best wishes to you and Toby!
My Duffy has something similar to that. He will be 10 in June. He gets these bumps on his back that look like moles but then crust over with dried blood. He also has something on his ear that is nasty looking with dried blood. I took him to the vet today and he said he needed to put him under and clean his teeth and then remove the growths. Does this sound like what Toby had? I am really worried about it being cancer!
