Toby sometimes gets these small white pimply bumps which we have been told are normal, and they usually go away on their own. This one started out the same, but got bigger. This is on his right hip. Went to the vet a couple weeks ago and they did an aspiration, said they didn't get much fluid out but sent a sample to the lab and to onocology. Nothing...and no cancer cells detected. The bump got bigger. They said it looks like a "warty growth". Said to keep an eye on it. Took him in again yesterday as he was biting at it drawing blood. They said the option would be to treat it with meds and see if it goes away or put him under anesthesia and remove it. They are hesitant  to put him under unless absolutely necessary as he has been having a lot of seizures lately and is on additional seizure meds right now. There is a hole in the middle and does not have any drainage. Yesterday they shaved the hair around it and cleaned it, and put an ointment on it. Looks a tad bit better today but still no difference in size. Is this a cyst? Has anybody here seen anything like this? I am really concerned, we have another appointment next week.

UPDATE: Toby is scheduled for "surgery" on January 31 to have the growth removed. It has grown quite a bit since this picture,  has gotten much wider and deeper, so they are not comfortable doing this with just a "local" anesthesia. They are also sending the "growth" out for analysis. Please keep him in your prayers.

Phyllis, Toby gets the little "pimply" bumps on his back and hips, usually they just disappear, but this one just grew into a large bump and started bleeding, we did the "wait and see" as the vet first suggested, but it became obvious that it was really bothering him as he continually wanted to bite at it, which caused some bleeding, so we decided to have it removed. The growth was sent out and it was determined it was not cancer.  I was also really worried about it being cancer. We also had Toby's teeth done at the same time. Keep us updated. I hope the surgery goes well for Duffy, will keep him in my prayers.

These are not bothering Duffy at all, just me!  I took a picture and I'll see if I can figure out how to post it with the "upload files" below.

What does the vet think it is? Toby's also got crusted over, but started out as a small white bump. I would definitely keep an eye on it, keep us updated.

He looked at them and poked around.  The one by his ear had a growth coming out of it.  Then he looked at his teeth and that's when he said he'd sedate him and clean his teeth and remove the growths that he has.  He didn't seem all that concerned.  This vet has taken care of Duffy since he was a puppy and knows us very well as Duffy was very sick and near death years ago.  He had a blood disorder and nearly bled out.  He was in intensive care at a specialty clinic.  We didn't realize how sick he was -  I wrote about it on here at the time. We almost lost him.  That's why this is freaking me out.  But Duffy is oblivious to any of this.  His appetite is fine, he acts normal, sleep  is fine.

Thanks. Toby is doing well now from the surgery, no cancer! We definitely learn from all these experiences. . Toby has a few more "bumps" on his back. We do keep a close eye on them to make sure they don't grow like this one did!

I am so glad that both Duffy and Toby are doing well.  Charlie's looked just like this, but after I put medication on it, it healed and disappeared.

Nancy what did you use??? Your groomer thought it might be a wart and mentioned something about tying it off, i was wondering about wart meds??? BTW, Amy news on the clippers??

Thank you, I am happy that Charlie's healed on it's own with meds. Toby gets a bunch of these small white bumps so I sure hope they will disappear on their own without surgery again.

We just took Sassparilla in today she has one that's more than doubled in size since December. Vet said still no need for concern but if i want to remove it he would but $500! Guess if it's not an issue we'll wait until she has something more serious to tend to.

Definitely keep an eye on it. Toby's started out as a small white bump, which he gets these often, but this one just grew fast. Our vet also said if he didn't bother it we could wait and see if it healed on it's own, but it only got worse. We paid just under $600 but we also had his teeth cleaned while he was there. Hoping Sassparilla heals and won't need to have it removed.

We're taking Duffy for another opinion.  I'll report back.  Haven't made the appointment yet, hopefully tomorrow.

I'm sorry Sassy has a bump.  I hope the growth slows down.
