Earlier I started a discussion about my 9 week puppy being possibly disgnosed with a UTI. Long story short the first urinalysis came back negative and blood work fine too. She is on amoxocillim before test results came back. Four days later since when this all started she is still peeing every 15 or less when she is awake. ( I write it down to be sure). Vet suggested a culture to see if there is bacteria. I will not know results until Monday or Tuesday. My fear is that the the test will come back fine and then we have to find out what could be the cause. Has anyone had a puppy that peed as frequently as this?
Has anything like this ever happened to anyone? Any ideas on what is going on? This is just making me nuts!!! Thanks!

Perhaps she needs a different antibiotic.

I don't think anyone on-line can tell you what is causing this; there are other conditions that can cause frequent urination, but I think guessing and speculation about possible health issues is not a good idea.

Please try not to worry and wait until the test results come back. Hopefully they will point you to the right treatment. Hang in there. :)

Thanks! I am a stress case my by nature! I will hope for the best!

Just curious but does she have an inverted vulva?  Google "inverted vulva" if you're not sure what I mean.  Dogs with an inverted vulva are prone to UTIs and should not be spayed until after at least one heat cycle.  In some cases it is necessary to wait for a 2nd heat cycle for the vulva to position properly.   Of course according the UC Davis study it is best to wait until 1 or 2 years of age before spaying anyway to prevent the irregular growth that has been implicated in hip dysplasia.

Hello.

So I'm guessing she is drinking all the time to be peeing that much?

Yes, she does drink quite a bit.

I wonder if it has to do with her being so thirsty-->drinking so much; hence the peeing all the time....

I hope it all turns around sooner than later for you all...

True. What goes in must come out! Thanks for your concern!

Hehehe...

UW

again,

hope she is better soon like ASAP

My dog has chronic UTI due to other issues. If the antibiotic clears the infection then it comes back that's when you need to start being worried, for now its normal especially with females. My vet said she should drink 1 oz for each lb she weighs daily. At least it's a guideline and I measured to make sure my dog was drinking that much. It just seemed like a lot but it wasn't. Hope this helps

I've heard that chicken broth (unsalted) can encourage a dog to drink more.

I hope the results of these new tests point you in the correct direction.
