The barking is driving me crazy !!!!!!!

I know all the things you should do ,to train dogs not to bark.But it just doesn't work all the time.
She loves the spray bottle !!!
She barks like crazy outside at everything,non stop, at the neighbors dog that came to visit, the cars,
just because......
She wouldn't come in,when I want her to come in,she wants me to chase her so she runs away, barking,barking,barking.
Is this a barking breed ??????
Are your puppies barking that much???
Do they stop barking eventually????
I can't have that barking, it drives me crazy.I do tell her to quiet down and give her treats for it,
in the house it is not to bad, I distract her with things , treat her etc.
But outside she is out of control.
What is your experience?????

I feel a bit of your pain, especially with the running away when you want them to come. Louie barked a lot when he was a few months younger. Constantly barked at other dogs at the dog park, but now he just doesn't. He is almost 8 months now, and his barking is a bit more discriminating- at strange noises, etc. I don't know how old your puppy is, but if she is pretty young yet, I think the barking will calm down. As much as you can have her on a leash, and reinforce "NO" when she barks, and praise or give her a treat when she doesn't, that would probably help. As far as coming when called, that is one of the hardest things to teach a dog. My trainer says her dog at 18 months still won't consistently come when called if she is distracted. The happier your tone of voice is when you tell them to come, the more likely they will come. I always give Louie a treat when he comes when called, and he is getting pretty good at it. Good luck- it will get better!

Abby is almost 8 month old.Maybe today is especially bad because I have a headache.
Just having a bad day.
I just don't want those barking dogs, you see when you take a walk and they bark at you.
I understand barking ,that is their voice, but they should learn to control it,and I guess we do have to teach them.
I'm just wondering are there lost causes????
Are there dogs you can't ever teach not to bark???

Taffy is a barker too!! Not so much in the house but always outside. I can get Taffy to come when I need her to for safety or emergency only. We have our word we chose at puppy class, ours is STAT. We practice at least 2x a week with a special treat only for this. We use a little sliced hot dogs. We use a excited voice and call her name and then our STAT and as she is headed for us we praise, praise, praise her and she gets the hot dog and then we grab her and play. So far she has come every time. In the begining we showed her the hot dog first but now I don't even have to show her the hot dog. It is important if you do this that when you practice you are always set up to get the reliable recall.

Izzy was/and still can be a obsessive barker, and i agree it is enough to drive you crazy!! and i feel as if i have to keep a handle on it, because when we bought our home in july, our neighbor toddled down the road to say hello, and with that friendly hello came..."your dog doesn't bark a lot does it?" so i feel obligated to be on puppy patrol and guard my dogs from doing what comes naturally.
i look like a fool when i see someone walking down our road trying to round them up before it starts! because once izzy starts it's all over with, and now tucker is picking up this habit.
but...what does work and works very well are the e collars (that is if you can remember to charge it every night, and you remember to put it on your pup prior to going outside...lol) it only takes once or twice for them to get the idea of not barking, and coming when called. ours has settings on it from 1-8 and i have never gone above 3, you don't have to. to tell you the truth, as long as izzy has the collar on she is the perfect dog, i don't even have to cary around the remote for it,she just knows!!
so i do not feel bad about using it on Izzy. tucker is still to small to use it on him, but when he gets bigger and if he picks up this habit i will use it on him as well!!

give it a try, it really works and it will calm your nerves!!

Where did you get the e-collar? what brand is it? I wonder if it would work well to get Louie to stop chasing out cat.
