Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

After having a golden retriever for 12 years, our family longed for another, but we decided to go the doodle route for the non shedding. Boy did we get a surprise! Lulu is our 17 week old goldendoodle baby. We love her with our whole hearts, but I find myself trying to find pictures or other post to put my mind at ease. She doesn't look anything like the other doodles in our family. I have people constantly say they can't believe she is a F1B. Not to mention the shedding. Do I maybe have a fake? Pictures are at 11 weeks when we first brought her home and at 16 weeks.

OK, seriously, Lulu is perfect, in my opinion. I love her look!! What were each of her parents? Our Fudge is an F1B and is 3/4 poodle and does not shed. However, she mats and mats and is much harder to groom than our Vern. I guess it is a trade off.

Many Doodles shed and some as much as Labs and Goldens. If your breeder told you differently, I'm sorry.

Check out this group on DK, http://www.doodlekisses.com/group/wheresthepoodleinmydoodle.....it should have the pictures and posts you are looking for. Meanwhile, please believe me when I tell you temperament is far more important than the Doodle look in any dog. Embrace your Lulu and enjoy her!!

The thing about mixed breed dogs is that there are no guarantees about coats, size or appearance, regardless of generation. You can never be sure what a doodle puppy is going to turn out like. Using a very experienced, reputable breeder helps, but there are still no guarantees.

I think Lulu is adorable, and she definitely looks like a doodle to me, although she looks more like an F1 than an F1B. But there are quite a few people here whose F1Bs look more like retrievers than Lulu does. I would predict that she is going to have the shaggy kind of Disney dog looks that my Jack has. She's probably also going to shed to some degree. But no, I don't think you have a fake, lol. She's a very cute doodle.

OMD, NO, she is not a fake! She is absolutely adorable! That is the beauty and the charm of this breed, they all can look so very different. Anything is possible. I have an F1b that looks like a small Golden Retriever. No fluff of any kind on her face, but she is the sweetest, most tender hearted angel (and she does shed buckets). I wouldn't want it any other way!

LOL she is Adorable!  And that second shot is a great NOSE picture.  Make sure you put that one in our next slideshow!  So cute and she looks as sweet as sugar!

First off your pup is beautiful! I have an F1b mini golden doodle. She is like mini golden retriever and is just the most loving, intelligent, amazing dog. We love that she is unique. And yes, she does shed. Best of luck! Here is a picture of my Nala

Doesn't look fake to me--I've seen lots of doodles that look like her and also know doodles that shed.  She is adorable.

Lulu is adorable first off, and I love her name too!  She may be going through a coat change at this time.  I included a picture of my Bailey at 15 weeks and now at age 6.  As you can see she has blossomed into a beautiful "doodlie" girl from a scruffy puppy.

That wagon is a great prop!  Good shot!  cute cute...and what a cute puppy shot!

I feel the same way about my Murphy. I believe he is an F2 English Goldendoodle, but his coat is kind of wiry and thinner looking than all the other doodles I see! I have no clue what to expect or if it's something I've done wrong! We just got him a week ago, so he came to us as a 14 week old awkward puppy! If you or anyone can help me to predict what Murph will look like, or have suggestions about how to better hai coat, please let me know! :)

There's nothing you can really do to change the a dog's coat in terms of length, curl, fluffiness, wiriness, thickness, shedding, etc. A good high protein diet and plenty of Omega 3 fatty acids will help with dryness and shine, but that's about it.

Murphy is very handsome. It's hard to know for sure, but it looks like he has what is called an "open face", which means he didn't get the gene for the facial furnishings that make up the beard, mustache, & typical doodle facial fluffiness. It will be interesting to see how his appearance changes as he gets older.

Hannah, your puppy looks very much like my Pippa did when we first brought her home. Her baby "fuzz" was replaced with softer, fluffier fur. She still has that open face but she sure gets a lot of attention. I love her just the way she is!
