I have a silly question, what do you do with your puppy before bed? Our pup gets a lot of active/play time. At the end of the day, my fiancé and I would love to just relax and watch 1-2 hours of tv/Netflix. If we do this, our puppy usually falls asleep near us. We haven't done this much because I worry if she takes a small nap before bed, she won't sleep at night.
We usually play with her in the yard a hour or so before we go inside and relax for the night.
Does anyone let their pup relax before bedtime or are you active with them up until bedtime?

Puppies need a lot of sleep---I think the idea of a nap before bedtime is more a problem for human babies---it is good to let her sleep and then when she wakes up, give her some potty time and playtime in the yard, but not an hour! Unless you want to be doing that late at night for the rest of her life! I would get her settled for the night by 10 or whenever you go to bed and that is it.

We usually play for a hourish in the backyard after we put our toddler to bed, so not right before bedtime but before we go in and relax. Thank you for the reply!
Ours are not little puppies anymore (22 and 15 months) but we generally have to wake them up for their final pee before bed. Come to think of it, that's pretty much what I have to do with my husband. The dogs are on the floor and my husband is in his recliner - all asleep before bedtime!!

:-}

LOL I love it!

LOL....

Oh Deanna! That is so very true...doodles and the dads!

Sounds like our house! Lol  My husband and our 3 dogs are usually all asleep in various parts of the family room when I go to bed. I wake up the 3 dogs for the final pee and then usher them to our bedroom. My husband, well, he's on his own! :-)

I agree with Ginny- puppies need a lot of sleep. When we were raising Winnie, I would have given ANYTHING if she would have relaxed with us in the evening! She was a ball of energy and no amount of exercise/training throughout the day would tucker her out. She was constantly pestering us, nipping at us, etc. it was the most annoying part of puppyhood. Now, she is by far the laziest of our 3!

In general, you want your pup to learn the natural rhythms of your day. So, I'm all for letting them relax when you do!
