I'm a new member and looking at the food discussions, I have a question - how much stock do you guys put into dogfoodadvisor recommendations?

Reason I ask, is we are feeding our goldendoodle Crave, which has a 5-star rating - but I don't see it here among any of the recommendations here.

We are getting another doodle on Friday and the breeder has their pups on Life's Abundance, which has a 4.5 star rating, but again, I don't see any recommendations for this either.

We are going to try the Solid Gold Sun Dancer. Paws crossed she likes it.

Before I order, is Solid Gold Sun Dancer still a viable option? I noticed the date of the last ratings was Jan 2016. Just want to make sure I'm still good to go.

I'd like to get a chicken-based kibble, as Mojo seems to like the chicken best.

I redid the recommended brands list in 2017. If a brand is on the list, it's still good, although the formulas may not all be up to date; it's the brand we're recommending, so anything by Solid Gold is fine.

One last thing to add regarding Life’s Abundance....some breeders, in an attempt to pad their bottom line, will only offer the usual two year warrantee on their puppies *if* you continue to feed the food/and/or/supplements they sell. They will say it is because of the *nutrious value* of the food/supplement but it is because you guarantee them an income source for the next two years.

The guaranties from breedes who insist you purchase their food, probably aren't worth it. In my opinion, a breeder who insists you use their products, would figure out a way not to honor the guaranty. If you feed a high quality food, unless your dog has special needs, you don't need to add vitamin or nutritional supplements. Some dogs do have sensitive tummies and a probiotic additive can help.

Thanks again everyone..

We got our puppy today. We looked at the contract and it doesn't require us to stay with the NuVet or the Life's Abundance in regards to the guarantee.

Regardless, we'll get Mojo switched over to Sun Dancer asap (she's the 7 year old) and we'll transition Chewbacca (Chewy) to the same once he gets through his mini bag of Life Abundance.

Here's Chewy by the way.
