Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hugo was weighed at the vet on Saturday and he is 37.6 lbs. He will be seven months on Feb. 4th. I know he is standard but I am curious if I can accurately predict his adult size from his current weight. He is such a cutie and so gentle. I am thinking about training him so I can take him to visit seniors home's and maybe the hospice. Has anyone else done this?

Hi Katherine
He looks like he is on track and will be a similar size as his sire. Turk is 22 inches at the shoulder and is 58 pounds. Your pups largest sister is 19 inches at the shoulder and 32 pounds [he was always a bit bigger] so I predict she will be about the same height, but 5 pounds lighter. One of his sisters is 16 inches at the shoulder and 24 pounds. No way will she be a standard.
The Australian Labradoodle was bred to be a therapy dog. They are so gentle and connected. It would be fabulous if you did the visiting thing with him. I haven't yet had the time, but I plan to take Jasper for the training. Here, the Red Cross organizes the training session [mostly edicate]. http://www.rutlandmanor.com/ASD_INtheBLOOD.htm
