Those Who Have Healthy Paws Insurance, How Much Have Your Rates Gone Up Each Year?

I know we have had discussions here about the large annual increases people have experienced with PetPlan insurance. I'm wondering if those of you who have Healthy Paws insurance have experienced similar annual increases?
I'm trying to decide between the two companies. :)

I know. I was totally shocked when I saw the quote. And then they are claiming that that's with a discount!!!!!

I think you have a really good rate with Dexter. Playing with it for Maggie I got a quote for the "recommended" plan of 24.84 a month with a 300 dollar annual deductible and 80% reimbursement and a 15,000 dollar year cap. That's for an 18 month old labradoodle. It's cheaper than the Healthy Paws plan I went with, but that cap scares me. I can see hitting that in one year without too much difficulty.

The plan with unlimited coverage through Pet Plan is about $1 a month more expensive than the Healthy Paws quote. Pretty insignificant, except that after hearing about all the plan changes and price increases I was a little bit wary of them.

Sherry, did you actually switch, I am nervous about switching from PP. They even still pay for follow ups on Daisy's cataract surgery and will continue to do so, until well, she doesn't go any longer.

I did not switch for 2 reasons.  One that when AnnaBelle was still a puppy there was a puppy in her liter that had a questionable hip issue so at her one year appointment I had the Vet check AB.  She noted that in the file.  HP sort of led me to believe they would consider that pre existing and there was no way to confirm it unless I had to file a claim.  And also they wouldn't tell me how much my rates would increase so I found no reason to change.

I did drop Lucy down to $15,000 coverage with a $300 deductible and 90% pay I believe it is.  Her policy is $763.08.  Just renewed this month and she is 10.  Lucy's policy is just getting crazy (although I know others pay more).  I need to keep it because of her allergies.  It would take quite a bit to hit a $15,000 annual bill in our area.  We also learned with Sophie that there are limits to what we would ask of them if we were in that situation again so I think we should be ok with the $15,000. I hope I never have to find out.

AnnaBelle is unlimited with $300 annual deductible and 90% reimbursement and hers is $412.06.  She will renew in May and she is 5.

We have PetPlan, and yes, for us, premiums have increased quite a bit each year, unfortunately we can not switch because Toby would have too many pre-existing conditions....we just renewed starting Feb 1 again, had to lower coverage...again..  Every year the premium goes up and the plan offers less coverage... Before we renewed last February, we had 100% coverage up to $22,000 per year with $50 deductible per condition, now the max coverage we can get is 90% coverage up to $15,000 per year, with $100 deductible for each condition, and we are paying over $100 per month now...his insurance does not cover anything seizure related because he had seizures before we started the insurance. Despite the cost, I am happy that we do have insurance on him. We just received a pre-authorization for Toby"s upcoming dental work, so PetPlan is good on covering dental. Whichever company you choose, it will be so worth it to have that peace of mind.

One thing that has changed with PetPlan is that there is no more deductible "per condition" or per incident. Your deductible is once a year, period. Which is a good thing.

We have $100 deductible per condition now, plus 10% of the bill, When we renewed they said we didn't qualify for the annual deductible...sounds like that just might be people that have not had claims...

I think it's just for new enrollees, maybe.

It would be interesting to know why some people get an annual deductible, and some don't....I might try to call on this later today, we have had a lot of claims over the last 8 years, I was led to believe that was why we have a $100 per condition deductible

I do think claims might have something to do with it. I know Jane doesn't have an annual deductible, she has the per incident deductibles, and she also has had lots of claims.

Are you adding a new pup to your family?

Yes. :)
Announcement will be coming up in the next week, I think.
