Those Who Have Healthy Paws Insurance, How Much Have Your Rates Gone Up Each Year?

I know we have had discussions here about the large annual increases people have experienced with PetPlan insurance. I'm wondering if those of you who have Healthy Paws insurance have experienced similar annual increases?
I'm trying to decide between the two companies. :)

When PetPlan lost their brains and made the coverage change I checked around to see about switching AnnaBelle to Healthy Paws.   I asked them about if their policy increased every year and they said no.  HOWEVER, upon further questioning that didn't mean it doesn't increase, it is just dependent on the market etc.  They wouldn't give me any idea of what to expect.  Be sure that you look at any waiting period because I know AnnaBelle came home with a UTI.  I dont think I even filed a claim because it was just some meds at her 1st visit.  However, that UTI is now in her records and I always figured that would cause me a problem should they have continued to happen ... but they didn't.

I think Healthy Paws and Pet Plan are very similar.  Two big differences I'm aware of though is that with HP they will pay for a 2nd CCL tear within a year.  With PP there is a 1 year window where they won't pay.  Also, with PP they pay the office visit and Healthy Paws I don't believe does.

No, Healthy Paws doesn't cover exams, and when I think back to what Jack's specialists charged for an office visit, even a recheck, that is huge. Pet Plan also covers periodontal disease and Healthy Paws doesn't.

I did not know they had changed to an annual deductible.  That is huge for me.  Do you know when they changed?

When they had that Underwriter shake-up and the premiums increased so much, they changed some people to an annual deductible, not all. I thought some were still per incident deductible. Your dog had to qualify for the annual deductible. That's how I remember it!

Yes, it doesn't apply to all dogs who already had their coverage. I know Jane's is still per incident. It does apply to new enrollees, though.

I'm trying to figure out exactly what per incident means. Surely not per visit, but say your dog has a knee injury. It's a 100 dollar deductible for all visits associated with the knee injury? I feel like at that point it really is just catastrophic insurance. I'm hoping that my future vet visits will not require multiple follow ups and 1000's of dollars in testing.

What frightens me with all the insurance companies is that they have the ability to change the policy in any way they want and with pre-existing conditions a lot of people don't have the option to change their coverage. It's a hard decision to pick a company and know that you're basically locked into them after something happens.

from what I understand, what it means is that with each separate issue, you have to pay your deductible again.
So if your dog had a knee injury in March, and had Xrays, etc done, you pay your deductible; and then if your dog ingests something and needs stomach Xrays, ultrasounds, etc. in August, you're going to have to pay the deductible again.

Let's keep these kids safe and healthy so we don't have to test the health insurance!

This whole process reminds me a little of when I was buying my car. I had a written offer on a car at a dealership, but they were messing with me so I took it to another dealership who told me that they would match it, but after I test drove the car they suddenly couldn't match *that* price. So much headache and deception.

I like your first sentence.

Yes, buying a car and buying insurance seem very similar, lol. Neither is any fun.

As long as it is the same condition you never have to pay the deductible again. Daisy will not have to pay for her yearly follow ups. Any new condition would be a new deductible. Note my comment below: shows PER CONDITION deductible.

I forgot to submit one of her Ophthalmologist visit of $220 and that was 2 years ago, I submitted and got all but 20% back.

This is what I like about PP, what I don't like is the hikes in cost and the deductible rise.

We have $100 deductible per condition on PetPlan

Wow Debbie that is great, compared to my rates, see below, are you paying less? We have an 80/20 plan.
