Any strategies to stop the dog from biting?

So i have a first generation goldendoodle he is 4 months and I am having a difficult time stopping him from biting. He jumps on your leg almost like he wants to hump your leg then continues to bite at every clothing he can grab. He doesn't report to a firm no or anything. I even try closing his snout, but he thinks I'm playing with him and gets even crazier. He has already claimed the life of several shirts, one jacket and a few pants.

This is pretty common and pretty annoying. Always have a ball or soft toy right by you and stick it in his mouth and praise him for holding it.  Teach him "get toy" - usually a favorite one.  This is hard for men to do for some reason but also screech or squeak in a high voice.  Yike, or similar are good works as long I sound tends to be higher pitched naturally.

My girl was a land shark and claimed the life of clothing, blankets and one leather purse. It's a wonder her behavior didn't land me a huge vet bill. Amazingly, it didn't. Giving her a toy instead of my hands or sweater, wasn't really solving the problem. Anyway, I decided this was bigger than me, so I had to enlist the help of a trainer to come to the house. She did go through a lot of bully sticks and West Paw toys that first year. Puppyhood can be challenging.

Ah yes.. the dreaded "land shark" stage.

Anytime Luna bit us too hard as a puppy we would say "ouch!" very loudly and high-pitched (think about the sound of a dog yelping) and then stop playing with her for about 30 seconds.  If she was extra persistent we'd remove ourselves from the room for about 30 seconds (go hide in a bathroom or something).

She got the idea pretty quickly that if she was too rough playtime was over.

I think this is pretty common and it's usually because the dog has so much puppy energy that they're looking for a way to express it.  How much exercise is he getting....at four months he needs some good walks and he needs to run.  You're going to have to try to prevent him from "practicing" this biting behavior by stopping it the second it starts.  You can put a leash on and put him in a sit until he calms down...you could give some crate time and wait till he's calm...you could leash and practice some basic obedience.  I don't know if you've started any formal training, but there is an online training program that has been discussed here on DK, and I think it's excellent for puppies.  It's called Doggy Dan and one of the lessons covers this behavior.  Google it or look at the previous DK discussions about the Doggy Dan Program.
