Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi everyone! This is my first dog ever and I have no idea what to do... In addition, I don't know which girl goldendoodle to choose! There are three girls from the litter, F1 English Cream Goldendoodles (mom: English Cream Golden Retriever 67 lbs, dad: Standard Cream Poodle 55 lbs) and they're all too cute!
I want a fleecy (slightly curly) coat and wanted to know which puppy would end up the softest, fleecy looking!
If you all have any suggestions for first time dog/doodle owners, PLEASE let me know!!
Puppy 1: The lightest, the biggest
Puppy 2: Has a white splash on her forehead and lighter legs, the middle size of the three
Puppy 3: The darkest, the smallest (look how TINY she is!!)

Size appearance is really tricky because the dog can get t long legged poodle body with more height than weight proportionally OR more weight with a heavier build like a retriever OR both. Their coat type can add to the illusion of size also.
My dogs weigh approximately 28, 40, and 60 pounds but have only 3” difference in shoulder height.
All three puppies are lovely.
Whichever you choose will be the perfect one.
I don't think you can go wrong with any of the 3 girls and temperament being factored in will probably be the deal breaker. Depending on what you want. As for size, it is very hard to tell their size, especially if/when you let their coats get long. And just about any standard golden doodle can go up or down about 10 pds and still be very healthy. I have one that tends to gain easily if I don't watch husbands heavy handed scoops of dog food and I very much like having them at the same weight +/- 5 pds as they wrestle so hard together, I feel an extra 10 pds on one might be hard on the other. They stay at 60-62 pds most of the time and unless they are really shaved down, they look chubby and thick. We always say how skinny they look when shaved, but the vet tells me every time that their weights are perfect. One got to 72 # when I was having husband feed both feeds for a few months. Took me almost a year to get him back down to his fighting weight. Even at that, 55 or 60 pds would not make that much of a difference and I didn't see 72 pds on him till a Vet visit. So 55-70 pds is a big leeway I feel, and really doesn't matter, unless you have to pick them up for some reason. Hope that makes sense. I'm a bit tipsy on cold meds right now......
Yep, the only time I notice a difference between when Sophie was 55 and Lucy was 80 was when I have to pick Lucy up. Even then, she will normally put her front 2 feet up and I just have to lift the back. She can occasionally be a little lazy jumping in the van.
Yes! This definitely makes sense, thank you so much! The big coat that goldendoodles are so well known for probably helps in hiding how big they truly are. Thank you so much!
I remember picking up my neighbor's goldendoodle puppy (she had run off) and she was all fluff! I know puppies don't carry as much muscle as adults, they're scrawny little things, but her lightness surprised me under all that hair.
Stephanie, have you chosen? I am dying to know.....
