I prefer Vetericyn Ear Flush which I use maybe once a month. https://www.chewy.com/vetericyn-plus-ear-rinse-pets-3-oz/dp/137542?...

Otherwise I make a simple solution of 40% white vinegar/60% water and maybe one drop of their shampoo and clean their ears every week.

I also rub the miracle powder "Thornit" around the ear opening, NOT INSIDE the ear. The little bottle will last forever. It comes from England. Here is the link and you can order it. I've never been without it and at 8+ and almost 12 years old, my girls have never had an ear infection; I always keep ahead of it. There is a short video which is very informational.

Cheers.

I've heard of Thornit so will give it a try thank you!

I've been using Virbac's Epi-Otic to clean the ears of my Poodles and Poodle mixes for 40 years. Excellent product for regular weekly maintenance. It's available from Chewy.com as well as many other places on-line and locally. Easy to use, inexpensive and no messes or mixing involved. And it's very effective for preventing infections.

It is a lot cheaper and seemed to have good reviews so we'll give this a try. Every time we go over to my in laws house he comes back with itchy ears I blame it on all the dirt he rolls in since they don't have grass, but I also noticed he has more wax than usual on one of the ears.

That's the one my vet recommends.

Mine too. :)

I can't find the video that explains it better, but you can saturate a cotton ball in the solution (I use Epi-Otic) that is room temperature' place it in the dog's ear; close the ear flap and massage the fluid into the ear. Remove the cotton ball, and using make up remover pads, clean the gunk out of the ear.  Not as scary for the dog as squirting a cold liquid into he ear.

Yes, that's how my vet told me to do it.

There’s a great video demonstrating it. I’m going to keep looking.

We received our epi otic ear cleaner today (thanks chewy for your fast shipping) and that stuff is wonderful! One of his ears was pretty clean the other one had gunky ear wax and let me tell you that stuff worked magic! Thanks for recommending it we love it

I have used all of the products mentioned at one time or another and all seem to do well. They all get the job done and I have one doodle with VERY sensitive ears that easily become infected when he is swimming a lot, if I don't use something to help clean and dry the ears out.

I, as a human, throughout my childhood/teen years had "swimmer's ear". ANYTIME I was in the water & my ears got wet, I religiously put alcohol drops in my ear.

Is this a similar situation? I have never had a dog with ear problems (including my 2 Golden Retrievers) & so have never realized that this could be an issue.
