Hi all! My friend has a daughter appearing in Annie this summer at our local summer theatre--it is actually a very well-know theater just a few hours north of NYC so they get good crowds at their shows...anyway, she asked me if Mattie would be Sandy, the stray dog Annie adopts! At 11 and a half years old, Mattie is still quite an active girl and I knew she would love it. And as a certified member of Therapy Dogs International with 10 years of experience, I knew they would love her!
I brought her to the cast meet and greet a few days ago and everyone went wild--she got a big round of applause as she was introduced and she barked a greeting!
This is going to be really fun---15 performances!
As you can see, she will match Annie's curly red wig perfectly. Will add some more pics in an update once we get started--her first photoshoot for the program in this week!

well, so far all she has done is pose with Annie for the photo shoot--show starts next week and first big rehearsal that includes her is this afternoon--will let you know how that goes....
Here is the photo shoot picture. First with one Annie then with the other! Rehearsal went well, but when Annie calls her and she is supposed to cross the stage, it is bit dicey since they say C'mon Boy, Sandy! She looks around as if to say, who is Sandy? But she is getting it...And when the girl sings Tomorrow to her and hits the high note, Mattie turns to her and licks her face! She probably thinks she is in pain!
How fun, Maggie gets to adlib! I was wondering about the name and how that was going to work but that is what rehearsal is all about!
I absolutely love this!!!! So does Mattie need to have you nearby? Is she looking at you in all of these shots or is she just on her own??? I love that she licked "Annie's" face - so awesome!!!
I have to disappear, actually--she is fine as long as she does not see me--today the actor who leads her in told me it took a minute for her to stop looking for me and then she was fine. So, I will hide as much as I can---just got my seats for the show--way in the back! It is a theater in the round with people packed in around the stage--so I hope she stays on the stage and does not travel into the audience!
