Beautiful pictures! Before I changed my garden mainly over to perennials, I usually planted a big raised bed around my deck full of zinnias. I especially liked it in the fall. Every time that I went out the back door, a flock of goldfinches would scatter! For perennials that are colorful for a long time, I like yarrow and lythrum.
Thank you. I keep several spaces in my perennials for zinnias for cut flowers and for the birds.
Echinacea is a perennial that also attracts goldfinches and butterflies, (and hummingbirds and hummingbird moths too, at least in my garden) , and it blooms for a long time, too.
The goldfinches and other small birds have stripped my echinaceas of seeds.
And that's how you get more, lol. A lot of them fall to the ground.
