Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi everyone,

My 12 week old goldendoodle lily is the cutest goldendoodle. Her coat is and has always been very caramel coloured but ever since we got her she has gradually been getting white eyebrows and a white beard around her nose and even longer white hairs on her body that stick up above the puppy coat. Her father was a white poodle yet her mother was a normal golden retriever. Is it possible for goldendoodles to been one colour when they are puppies and then turn white later on?

Thanks so much!

Haley got white hairs as he got older as a puppy. His breeder called it frosting. Now at almost nine years old around his mouth is turning white.

Holly's coat has become significantly lighter in color as she matures...

As a puppy

As an adult

Most doodles lighten as they mature.  Many, many apricots/caramels turn to cream and many reds to apricot.  Chocolates have the most changes.  Some golden retrievers darken as they age and so do their offspring.   It's one of the fun things about doodles - the color surprises.

Lily is so cute with those big, beautiful eyes!

Picco's coat lightened up too but when his hair grows out he will get long gold hairs. They are pretty but get cut off when groomed.
