My Polly is at the vets having an emergency surgery for an obstruction in her intestines. We don't know what it is yet, only that it is already causing swelling an the vet just cleared her calendar so she could go ahead and take care of it. She is not sure is she will have to remove any on the intestines or not until she gets to it. She plans on keeping Polly for several days. I am a bit of a wreck and poor Meg can't figure out why Polly isn't here. Please keep Polly in you prayers, she is everything to us.
The vet just called, she did not have to cut into Polly's intestines, she ran the entire length and could not find an obstruction but did find a serious infection that she says is extremely bad. Polly is on IV antibiotics for the next two day, once she can get her to handle a bland diet she will allow her to come home. She thinks not before Monday and most likely Tuesday. Feeling very lucky right now but would feel better if I had her on my lap. Thanks for your prayers.
The vet called this morning to let me know that Polly ate a little bit when she fed her by hand (of course she did, she loves to eat like that, spoiled brat), however she has pretty bad diarrhea right now so she is keeping her on an iv so she does not dehydrate. Not sure the cause of the diarrhea...antibiotics...infection...lots more liquids through iv than she normally has...combination of all? If she continues being this alert and wanting attention she will probably let us bring her home tomorrow since she did not have to cut into her intestines. She can't have a bath for a week so I called her groomer, located in the same building, and she will check her first thing in the morning and giver her a butt bath so we can love on her when she gets home and then we will get her back on her regular grooming schedule. Meg will be so glad for her to come home, she keeps looking for her and then coming back to stare at us as if to ask where is she hiding.
