Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Any dog will do but especially doodles. They can be doing anything or nothing at all. But they should be current and favorites of yours. They should be special in some way, whether they just please you or they are technically perfect or imperfect but not just one of the thousands we all take often. New photos please.

Oh my gosh, I'm so lazy I don't even put up a tree. There's no one here to see it except me and I can just see the girls pulling it over while wrestling. But moving the furniture and photographing them against the wall is a good idea. I'll have to give it a try. It only seems to work early in the morning when the sun is coming through the window. Outside would be so much better if I could keep all chipmunks, squirrels, birds, etc. from distracting them.

I might get better at photography if my subjects start getting more cooperative!

From someone with TWO black dogs I know how difficult it is to get their features in a picture.  Good job!

You can hang a piece of fabric, sheet or tablecloth on the wall as a background. Since they are different sizes, you could try Katie in a chair or on the couch and Maggie on the floor.  You can practice by putting your 'set' together and shoot a few photos at different times of the day without dogs to see what that backdrop looks like.  Then try to get them together. I think you did a great job with the eyes on both - dark dogs are impossible to shoot.

Our daughter's dogs - all are rescues!

So cute, Richard.

I usually shoot my dog/puppy pictures from as close to the dogs eye level as possible.  However, lately I have been playing with some manual focus vintage lenses on my Sony A6500.  I purchased a 55mm f/1.4 Auto Sears lens for $40 on eBay. This lens was made by the Tomioka company of Japan and re-branded under several different names. It has become a cult lens and is said to equal the new 56mm F/1.4 Sigma as a portrait lens on a crop sensor Sony camera. It is sharp and renders the out of focus aeas quite nicely...

It is easy to manually focus this lens on the A6500 because of focus magnification and focus peaking. Here is a quick shot I did of Robin, our latest rescue adoption...

The shot looks just like Robin because she is always looking up at me with her big adoring eyes...  Hopefully, I will be shooting some human portraits this weekend with the Auto Sears and other lenses and I will also be shooting some more dog pictures with these lenses,

Gorgeous portrait of an adorable pup.
