Just needed to share my deep sorrow.  We lost our beautiful boy, Finn, to bloat on 7/5/19.  We were returning from vacation when I rec'd a call from the kennel, in the airport, that she discovered him in his run.  She rushed him to the vet, but it was too late.  We are so heartbroken.

So, I just wanted to remind everyone that bloat is a very real danger an to educate themselves on how it happens and how to prevent it.

I am very sorry for your loss.

Is bloat something that is less common dealing with smaller dogs, including Mini and Toy Doodles ?  I usually take Teddy to the dog park after dinner so it could be 10-15 minutes after he eats dinner.

I doesn't happen in toys and almost never happens in minis. It's common in Standard Poodles, and hence, standard doodles.

Thanks Karen....BTW, Teddy turned 3 years old this past Saturday.  I can't believe it !

It is most common for very large dogs and ones with deep chests (like our doodles). Frank, it is not common to smaller dogs.  It wasn't common for my English Springer Spaniel - by breed, but he had anxiety which is one factor.

I'm sorry for your loss.  Anything that takes your pet away so unexpectedly is very difficult, I think.  I hope in time your good memories will outweigh the sorrow.

Oh Danna, how tragic! I am so very sorry for your loss. I know your heart is broken. Sending you hugs and doodle kisses from our household to yours.

So terribly sorry!  No words can make you feel better, but know we are send our love.

I am so sorry for your loss. How tragic.

I am so sorry for your loss! This is heartbreaking!

Sorry for your loss Danna. And thank you for bringing it to our attention again. I think so many of us know about it but think it won't happen to me!  It's such a quick and deadly condition that no matter how fast we get them to the vet, there are no guarantees.
