I am horrified to even bring this up, because it really turns my stomach!
Bruce has started relentlessly seeking out (and I mean searching, because I am very diligent about cleaning up every time now) and eating his own POOP!! UGH!!!
he never had this issue before, but now, it's like he craves it!
earlier today he must have had a poop, and I didn't see him do it, and we're in the middle of yet another snow storm here in Newfoundland, and it must have gotten covered up by the snow and I missed it when I did the walk around the yard before letting him out just now. and sure enough, I look out and he's lying down in the middle of the miserable weather chowing down on the unthinkable. I understand that this happens, and a lot of times is normal behavior, but this is insane! he searches for it, and even eats all the snow in that specific area after I have shoveled it up and thrown it away. I am so disgusted. this has been going on for about a month now. has anybody had this problem before? and found a way to stop it from continuing?
Please!! any feedback would be great!

Hi Jenn,
haha, sorry that I am laughing but I still have the sound of the frozen poop in my ear when my Benny was chewing it. It is really disgusting. Here are some links from earlier discussions about this topic, then I don't need to write it all again.
Good luck, but I am sure it will stop eventually again.

It's called dis-taste and the other one is for-bid but it works only to prevent them from eating their own poop. If they eat duck or other dogs' poop it doesn't work.
I haven't tried it because it doesn't seem to be available in Europe but in the last link I posted earlier is a link to an article about both products.
Well Jenn, I feel for you! My 11 week old pup is doing the same thing. Just started doing it last week. His, poop, rabbit poop, whatever is available. He goes to the vet in two weeks, I intend to ask my vet about it then. Like you, even when you clean up what you can see, he eats the snow where you picked up or digs for more. Yesterday we started shoveling the snow under the poop to try to remove the scent. That bag is going to get very heavy......
Jen, our Mocha also eats poop, but only her own (picky huh?) . She has since she was under 7 weeks old. We tried stuff the vet gave us, but to no advail. We clean up the yard to the best of our ability, but when it is so freezing cold outside and the snow is piled high it is tough to go out and follow her around. We will yell "leave it" when we see her from the window, but that does not always work. When we do see her and "leave it" works..we call her into the house and then go out and pick it up.. The minute we let her out again, she races to the spot in hopes we didn't get it all. She is now 1 yr. old and obviously we have not broken her of it. I think it is strange that Bruce has started doing this now. Has his diet changed at all? After reading some of the replies on eating poop, I guess I will try the one that seemed to have more sucess, and that is the dried yeast and cheese. Let me know how things go with Bruce. Maybe he will just stop on his own one of these days. .....Guess I didn't help you at all here did I? Ah, misery loves company :-)
