Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

My mom and I were out today, and saw two dogs playing in a corn field. We weren't sure but they looked like goldendoodles from where we were. They kept running and playing around the river which is very fast flowing not to mention high (covering the road in some spots) and full of chunks of ice, we were very scared for them. There was 2 houses close by so I went to the one house no one was home but they had dog pens, the couple at the other house told me the dogs belonged to the house with the pens. They continued to tell me that the dogs run loose all the time, run on the road and do what ever they like. I was also told that they had a dog get hit last year and they went out and bought another. So I went back and got out of the car when I noticed they were friendly. Oh my they were goldendoodles.
They were filthy with mud, matts, and needed thier toe nails clipped very badly, but regardless of that I thought they were so beautiful. I called a spca and the lady said she would come in a hour, I stayed as long as I could but had to go to the washroom so I had to leave. I watched as the dogs ran off to play, I hoped they would be fine. The lady from the spca called me and said she had talked to the owner, and the owner said they run all the time. She was told to keep them in the pen because they may get hit and should not run free like that, that is when the lady said she had lost a doodle last year by getting hit.
At the end of my phone call the lady from the spca told me that this lady breeds goldendoodles, my heart dropped. This was the same lady I called 2 weeks ago about puppies I checked the address in the ad and it was the same address (not sure why it took me so long to clue in) . I can't believe a breeder is that stupid, the dogs obviously are there for one reason puppies puppies and more puppies so sad.
The male was starving for attention so I was petting him for about 20 minutes, I would have took them home but I had my 2 already in the car:(
Anyway I just needed to vent abit.

How incredibly sad. Why can NOTHING be done? Or can there be something done to stop her from breeding at least and fine her for letting her dogs run free? Any leash laws where you live? Ughhh...makes my heart sink thinking about it.
This does make me sick. I'm all for letting dogs run - I myself am (unlike many) a big believer in e-fences. In my neighborhood they work fabulous. Anyway I'm all for letting clean, healthy, supervised happy dogs having room to run unleashed. I guess what you can at least do - never ever recommend this breeder. Word of mouth travels fast. What did the lady from the spca say about the condition of the dogs? Why can't something be done about that. Isn't this considered cruelty to animals?
She never said anything about the condition.
She did however say to me that it might have been better if I did take them, and find them loving homes.
She also said to the lady I hope not to be back here again, so maybe that is her first warning??
I thought about posting somthing were the ad was posted, not saying a address or anything but maybe a few hints.
Very sad!! I think breeders should be required to have a license.
I really don't even think we should insult the responsible breeders among us by calling this woman a "breeder". She is a person who lets her dogs mate so she can try to make money off the puppies. That is about the extent of what she puts into it. I agree with Ann that they are better off than most puppy mill dogs. Unfortunately, this is why it's so important to KNOW who you are buying a puppy from.
Just be glad you didn't get a puppy from this person.
Yes, you are right Karen!!
Perhaps, you could post the breeders name and location on this site which might prevent anyone from buying one of her pup's. I have notived that many people register on this site just to check things out in their research before they decide to get a doodle. OMG this story is terrible-I think I might have taken them both home with me. It must have been so hard for you to leave them-Good for you to report them!!
If I posted the names and locations of every "breeder" that I KNOW to be this bad and worse, we would have some serious lawsuits on our hands. You have to be able to prove they are doing something wrong, and unfortunately, the law doesn't really care much about these things. Unfortunately, it's buyer beware. People can ask questions on forums such as this one, however, and get private answers and information. Most people don't think to do that...instead, they believe the website photos & the "breeders'" claims without proof. Education is the best weapon against people like this.
How sad and she is allowed to breed doodles!!! I truly don't get it!
I can't stop thinking about them 2 sweet hearts. I wonder if I drive by tomorrow if they will be out and about. I would hate to see puppies running around.
Hi everyone!
this so called breeder is now selling her stud for $400.00 I'm pretty sure he is the one that I saw running on the road and in the corn field. I e-mailed and told her I would never buy a puppy from her and word of mouth travels fast. People like this should not own a dog.
Where is this ... I am driving there right now... lets picket her house...
something ... anything... Call the local news ... Is there a channel 6 on your side there? We have that here.. they were able to get this puppy mill shut down here... See my post I just put up. "what would you do" it is more of the same...
